I have been working at SafetyCulture full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Extremely open about everything they do - both internally and externally.
    Everyone is approachable.

There is a feeling that the organisation is aware of technical and process debt and consciously striving to get rid of it while moving forward.

The company may have had a rough patch around beginning of 2019 but it overcame it long ago and got on a great path.

I've worked in many companies and never saw a place as open as this one about the state of the business (excellent) and every plan by management.

    Cons

The worst I can say about it is that the building we are in is a bit old, but:

    1. We are working on moving to a new dedicated office within the next year or two
    2. The fact that the only complaint I can think of is about the building must say something.

    Advice to Management

Don't drop the ball. You are doing great.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at SafetyCulture (Sydney) in August 2020.

    Interview

5 interviews in a fairly structured manner. I believe there is an underlying framework for scoring candidates, and the entire process is very transparent. 👍

I wound up at a level higher than the original role advertised, but we worked through that and established with the feedback given from the steps below very quickly.

All of the interviews were done remotely. Each step was 45 minutes each unless noted.

    1. Quick internal recruiter sanity check. Was asked to describe several aspects of technical systems. Tried very hard to make sure the recruiter could grok my concepts that I'm trying to get across.

    2. Pair programming/whiteboarding. Prep for this suggested by the recruiter was leetcode mediums. Turned out to be a very simple question that could be optimally solved in the time allotted.

    3. Systems design/architectural overview. I personally love doing this kind of interview so I had a lot of fun. Was asked to design a system from simple -> complex requirements and constraints.

    4. Technical influence/leadership. More of a soft skills area but felt technical at the same time. A few questions around 'how would you do x', but with a technical spin instead of a values/cultural spin.

4.5 Hiring manager. This was more to get me access to the HM to get some insight into the role/s that were being filled, and at what level am I expected to perform at. I felt like this was a bit out of the norm for them, hence the .5

    5. Cultural fit. How I align to the values at SafetyCulture. Very STAR orientated and definitely the toughest one for me in terms of giving concrete examples.

5.5 Exec hiring manager. Again another .5, and this one was only 30 minutes. Talked to the VP of Engineering (the role's skip level) and understood the kind of person he is, as well as how the org is being run from his perspective. Very insightful.
