Six Degrees Executive – Why Work With Us?

WHAT OUR VALUES MEAN TO US

CURIOUS MINDS

In short, we ask all the right questions. Our specialists go further to fully understand our clients’ goals and team culture, along with our candidates’ career aspirations to make sure we connect the right people with the right role. Clients and candidates who engage with Six Degrees can expect to develop long-term relationships where we place great people multiple times in their career and provide clients with the best talent to achieve their business goals. Our culture of continuous learning means that you will always work with specialists with the very latest, best-practice recruitment knowledge and skill-sets.

PERFORMANCE MATTERS

The team at Six Degrees is proud of our 90% first-time fill rate and the fact that 90% of our placed talent remains in their roles for over 12 months. This exceptional track record is no accident – our team works collaboratively to achieve performance targets and shares a firm belief in the importance of accountability, quality and teamwork. Our performance framework ensures a team mentality in hitting targets, where the best interests of clients and candidates are always at heart.

PASSIONATE PLAYERS

Clients and candidates alike value our genuine passion for delivering the very best talent solutions and bringing career aspirations to life. Our consultants immerse themselves in the disciplines in which they specialise and take every opportunity to stay up-to-date with the latest challenges and opportunities facing their sectors. Six Degrees’ clients are frequently surprised at the level of knowledge – and passion – that our specialists have about the issues unique to sectors we focus on.

DO WHAT’S RIGHT

Doing what’s right is second-nature to our consultants at Six Degrees Executive. This important decision-making value has enabled our organisation to build a reputation for ethical behaviour and trustworthiness over 15 years of recruiting. This is a core value that enables Six Degrees to stand out in an industry where doing what’s right for both clients and candidates doesn’t always take precedence.

DELIGHT OUR CUSTOMERS

Six Degrees’ clients and candidates are not only delighted by the end result, but by the whole end-to-end experience, beginning with the first point of contact. We always try to go that extra mile to ensure all our customers remain fully engaged, informed and satisfied with our services.

WE DEVELOP AND INVEST IN OUR PEOPLE

Members of the Six Degrees family are challenged to develop personally and professionally from day-one through an intensive induction program, access to corporate coaching and mentoring, monthly “lunch and learn” sessions with industry leaders, regular training with external facilitators, attendance at industry conferences, and financial support for further education.

LIFE AT SIX DEGREES

We understand that a high-performing team doesn’t need to operate in a boring, lifeless corporate environment. That’s why the Six Degrees founding directors set out to create something different: a close-knit culture affectionally referred to as the “Six Degrees family”.

Six Degrees is a fun yet professional environment where people can grow and thrive. We celebrate diversity and individual brilliance and know our best work is driven by our collaborative, team-based culture where we support each other to achieve at our best.

We’re proud of the fact that the supportive culture and team mentality we’ve built has led to a low turnover rate around 20% compared to the recruitment industry average of 40%.

We thrive on the massively satisfying feeling that comes from unearthing the best talent for our clients and helping candidates find their ideal career paths. Six Degrees strives to be a place where you can work smart, enjoy life and make a difference. There are many benefits on offer for the team at Six Degrees:

Work flexibly: Everyone is different, so we encourage our team to work when (and where) they are most productive. You don’t need to be the last person to leave to make a good impression.

Reap the rewards: Six Degrees offers above-average industry remuneration and has numerous exciting initiatives to keep our team engaged and achieving.

Drive performance: We are a team of naturally high performers, driven to achieve quality outcomes for our candidates and clients. A quality framework linked to incentive benefits underpins our processes. Our culture isn’t about hard-core targets: unlike other recruiters, targets are underpinned by a team mentality where we support each other and celebrate shared successes.

Improve your skills: Every member of the Six Degrees family – from our founding directors to the newest members of our Graduate Program – shares a strong commitment to continuous learning. We support ongoing training through a structured Learning & Development program, financial support for further education, on-the-job learning, a coaching and mentoring program and a comprehensive induction program.

Have a good time at work: We take our role in shaping futures seriously, but we also have a good time along the way. We value a good sense of humour and encourage you to stay positive and happy.

Progress your career: Our Learning & Development program is designed to help our team members achieve their goals by providing access to varied internal career pathways in managerial and non-managerial roles.

Put your family first: It’s okay to pick up the kids and check on your Grandma. Our parental leave includes fathers, same-sex and de facto families. You’ll also get additional annual leave for tenure, and a day off on your birthday each year so you can celebrate in style!

Be yourself: Who else would you be? We value diversity and encourage you to bring your individuality to work. We know our team members are real people, not corporate robots.

Stay healthy: Recruitment is a fast-paced environment, so we recognise the importance of physical and mental health and work-life balance. We offer a monthly Health & Wellbeing allowance you can devote to an activity of your choice. There’s also an Employee Assistance Program, along with free fruit each week and annual flu vaccinations.

Celebrate success: We recognise and celebrate success together, with many fun team events during the year.

Give back: We encourage you to give back to the community. Take a day to volunteer for a cause close to your heart or organise an event for your team.

Grow the family: Receive a referral bonus when your personal recommendation becomes part of the Six Degrees family.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

Six Degrees value the importance of diversity, inclusion and belonging and understand the importance of providing inclusive and equitable recruitment services. We are privileged to play a role in shaping the futures of our clients and candidates and strive to ensure all people in our circle of influence are included and treated with respect and understanding.

UNEARTHING DIVERSE TALENT: CREATING INCLUSIVE FUTURES

At Six Degrees, we know from experience that the secret to unearthing great talent lies in understanding individuality. That’s why we strive to develop a culture and recruitment environment where all types of diversity are valued and celebrated – not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because diverse and inclusive cultures are good for business.

We value the privileged role we play in influencing positive change through our recruitment processes and we are focussed on helping our clients unlock the benefits of diverse and inclusive teams. We acknowledge the magnitude of this journey and ask our key stakeholders to partner us in the spirit of open learning and continuous improvement as we progress towards inclusion and equality.

I worked at Six Degrees Executive full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Six Degrees fosters a fun,respectful,high-performing yet incredibly supportive culture. This is embraced from the most junior staff, right through to the CEO.
If you are looking to join a business with forward thinking leadership, strong admin support and are set up from success to reach your true potential, be treated with respect at all times, encouraged to come up with new ideas, provided great training and opportunties to excel your career. This work environment is heaven. I was mind-blown by the sincerity of every person I met in the business (approx 86 staff) across SYD/BNE/MELB.

    Cons

Honestly none -I resigned due to a long commute (I lived in GC, office is in BNE)

    Advice to Management

Give your self a massive pat on the back! You are simply amazing. Thank you for providing me with the most enriching and rewarding career experience I have had, thus far.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Six Degrees Executive (Melbourne) in March 2012.

    Interview

Quite thorough but clear competency framework and model they stick to such as teamwork, commercial acumen. You will meet lots of the team and there might be testing and also a social interaction session. They like if you ask lots of questions
