I have been working at US Army Corps of Engineers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, predictable raises, retirement transferable to any federal agency job, multiple locations available to transfer, possible overseas assignments, serving the public on interesting projects, and great benefits.

    Cons

Starting pay low then gradually increases to match peers in same private job market, Year to three year probation period to become available for overseas assignments. The general schedule wage system is not well suited to out perform or comparable to private job pay for developers.
