I have been working at 2evolve full-time for less than a year

    Pros

A brilliant atmosphere within the call centre with lots of backpackers who are always up for a laugh. A fantastic training process with the fabulous Raymond. All senior staff being super approchable! Plus targets are easy to hit and theres plenty of incentives to keep you motivated. There's also plenty of opportunities to progress, I've been here 8 weeks and have already managed to climb the ladder to shift leader all thanks to Hayleys amazing managment!

    Cons

The challanges of working here are the same as all call centres, you need to be ready for a fast paced enviroment.

    Pros

If you like working with backpackers this is the place to be.

    Cons

Unfortunately, this business has an exceptionally high turnover of staff and you will be constantly intimidated by new trainees poking around. You will be regaled with wonderful stories of an eight-week training program and then shat at verbally on your first day as you are barraged with expectations of high sales figures earned only by the businesses top sales dogs. Be expected to pay for your own headset and security pass by way of a deposit, so gracefully returned to you when you're forcefully ejected a few weeks later. Average salespeople need not apply: one day without a sale and you'll be promptly asked to 'stop things there' and consecutively exit the building. No phones nor notebooks on the floor and a questionable 'do not call' register at best.

I worked at 2evolve full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I was with the 2Evolve company for around 10 months in total. Some of my fondest moments are while being with this company. I met some of the best friends that completely made my travelling experience. While also with the company I was given the opportunities to learn new experiences and gain valuable knowledge with regards to vital work ethic that I can carry with me through multiple situations and career opportunities. During my time with the organisation, I was able to work closely with many people that were able to inspire me to work harder and succeed. Working with both my team leader and the CEO of the company I was able to adapt quickly to new situations and work within a friendly, constructive environment. I was also able to gain valuable lessons in becoming an efficient and conscientious person and really work on my inter-personal skills. This job also teaches a person how to work both alone and within a team environment. 2Evolve has given many opportunities to many people including myself, offering me the prospect of working in a partner company and furthering my understanding and knowledge of workplace etiquette.

    Cons

As with most companies, 2Evolve has a high turnover with backpackers coming and going. This can affect the culture within the company and can lead to negative reviews left by hearsay within the company floor. During my time with the company not much affected me in a negative way. As with any job you always are going to come across people you may not get along with. However mixing with many people over time in the company does enable a person to come across different types of people. A personal negative for me would have to be sat at a desk all day. For someone that isn’t easily concentrated I did at times find it difficult to stay at my desk for periods of time.

Thanks for sharing your experience with 2evolve. We love the diversity of people that work here and understand that for a lot of people, they will only be with us for a short time. But for people who want to build a career in fundraising, there are lots of opportunities at 2evolve.

I worked at 2evolve full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - The pay is reasonable for a backpacking job. - If you have to do charity fundraising, in my experience it's easier and less stressful doing it in a call center. This is not an endorsement of anything positive about 2evolve though. Would you rather do a degrading job on the street or in an office? - If you're a backpacker who's just arrived in Sydney the office is within walking distance of a lot of popular hostels, restaurants and clubs. - The people (not including management) I worked with were thoroughly decent.

    Cons

    - 1: What this job involves. If you're unlucky enough to clear the interview process for a job at 2evolve you will be trained to work in their call center. Training means being taught to read a script while emphasizing different emotional tones and being taught to operate a crude Microsoft software package. Once you've done that (and honestly, you could probably train your dumbest cousin to do these things) you begin making calls. The calls aim to raise money for a variety of high-profile charities. Different teams make different calls. Some aim to find new people to donate money to charities. Others aim to raise donations from existing charity members. I worked on both, and there are other teams which do other variations on the same basic call/get money theme. On a typical day you'll call around forty people. Very often they're pensioners, students or people who do not want to speak to you. Using various sales techniques you try to get these people to give you money. You are not encouraged to think of these people as people. They are wallets stuffed with cash. Your job is to open the wallet and take as much as you can. Imagine walking into an old person's home; you come across an infirm eighty-year-old woman, and decide to lift her off her feet, turn her upside down and shake her until all her money rustles to the ground. Well, at least the money is going to charity! In the old USSR dissidents used to believe that the political class would be brought down by embarrassment. They'd look around at the malfunctioning society they had built and continued to maintain, see how bad it had become, and simply slink off the stage. I imagine they'll reach this level at 2evolve fairly soon. Everyone involved will admit their embarrassment and shut the place down. Overall this is a boring job that requires little skill, with sinister direct sales overtones. You'd need superhuman endurance to do it for longer than a couple of weeks. Any professional qualifications or educational experience you previously had is worth nothing in this dead zone. -2: Performance Management. 2evolve use a system of targets, averages, daily performance reviews and twice daily team meetings to monitor your performance. Ostensibly this is to make sure you actually get people to give money to charity, but the system of targets and averages also functions as an easy way to fire you whenever management wants to. Taken as a whole the monitoring system sets up a series of demands, which management insists are reasonable, like, say, getting two people a day to sign up to the charity. A week later this becomes five people a day. Or six. At the daily team meetings your team leader sets a higher target. They think you'll get seven people to sign up in the next three hours. They says this like it's reasonable. When management discovers that it's system and it's demands are not reasonable, they don't conclude that the problem is with their demands or their system. They conclude that the problem is with the individual who cannot fit in with the system or meet it's demands. And that's when they sack you. -3. People management. Daily meetings with management had a claustrophobic, unctuous aspect.. Management at 2evolve is micro management. We were told to clean our shoes and not to wear hoodies. I'm surprised I didn't have to stick my hand up and ask a team leader every time I needed the toilet. After a few days the sense of taking orders and being commanded becomes insufferable. None of the micro-management is necessary and serves only to make those in management feel important, like they're doing something. The fascination of power in its purest form has been linked to the growing number of its accumulated victims. The close and constant monitoring of employees by management at 2evolve is a particularly smalltime and pointless form of this power. 4. Atmospherics. As you might gather from what I've written above, 2evolve has a truly terrible atmosphere. I've read other reviews that refer to camaraderie in the office, and yes, there is camaraderie, the kind that prisoners have in chain gangs. Everything has a bitter edge, smoking breaks, jokes, small talk of all kinds, draped as they are with the collective awareness of how awful it is to be stuck working at 2evolve. Management tries to brighten everything up by playing word games in the twice daily team-meetings. One day I watched as a colleague literally snorted in disgust and stormed to his desk, too embarrassed to play the demeaning and childish games any longer. Now you might counter all this and say, well, at least you're raising money for charity. Having spent some time in and around the fundraising industry, and specifically with 2evolve, I'd argue that you're better off getting some real skills and helping charities by working or interning for them directly, rather than debasing yourself here. This is an amoral job that masquerades as philanthropy and if you stay too long you'll end up despising most charities and most of the people you have to call.

Thanks for your very detailed review. You obviously did not enjoy your time in our call centre and we know that these roles are not for everyone. We do try to provide potential employees with as much information about the role as possible before they start so to limit a mismatch. This includes being clear that it is an outbound direct sales role that requires working to targets (nothing hidden or sinister!). It is also an entry level role with no requirements for previous experience or qualifications (we agree it's not brain surgery!). We also do have a dress code for all our staff and if you are working in the call centre, you will be expected to dress appropriately for an office. I hope you found a role that is a better fit and wish you all the best.

    I have been working at 2evolve full-time

    Pros

I've been working at 2evolve since the end of November and have found it an amazing company to work for. I had a great manager when I started who made me a shift leader not too long after starting there, after being a shift leader for a while I became a team leader and have had so much support and guidance the whole time I have been there from my Team leader Jay, to higher management, GM Jakub all the way to the Owner Mel.

    Cons

Love everything about 2 evolve but if I had to choose some cons it would be when I have to say goodbye to people when backpackers fly home.

    I worked at 2evolve

    Pros

Most of the people who work there are great. I met so many amazing friends at 2evolve. The hours are pretty good and the pay is good (when you're being paid correctly).

    Cons

Where do I start.. I used to think there was a little bit of good in everyone until I met the CEO of 2evolve. She micromanages the whole place. She has a multimillion dollar company and yet she finds it necessary to manage everything from the games we play, what we wear and who gets fired or gets their bonuses. I've seen her bully multiple members of staff mostly casual callers/backpackers but have seen her speak awfully to the senior staff as well. She is constantly putting people down and uses scare tactics and negative reinforcement to get people to get the results. There is no job security what so ever. You could be given an award one week and the week after be told if you don't hit your target today you will lose your job. Most people don't last 2 weeks. Since I've come and gone there was a turn over of over 200 staff in 6 months. They mail out payslips so people can't immediately check they're pay/hours and many people find they haven't been paid the correct rate or have missed out on bonuses all together. They "progress" staff to senior management based on "attitude, results and attendance". Attitude basically means you have to lie to your collegues and brown nose the CEO or you'll be dropped. If someone is sick more than a few days they're either fire them and cut their days. The work is unethical. I'm sure if the charities 2evolve represents knew about how they raised funds they'd be embarrassed and ashamed. We're taught to word things to guilt people into giving money to charity. Harrassing pensioners and single mothers for extra funds that basically just go straight into the CEOs pocket that she spends on designer clothes and shoes.

I worked at 2evolve for less than a year

    Pros

I was a corporate executive (not a backpacker) in Sydney prior to joining and I only wish I had trusted the real reviews here and not the world of the management team I met with for my interviews. Show yourself and your career the respect of avoiding this cataclysmic mess of a "business", you are not doing "good work" and "making a difference", you are lining the pockets of mere bullies with keys to an office. The pro I will take away from this experience is learning exactly how I will not run my business or treat my own staff.

    Cons

Bullying, lies about salary and bonus being offered until AFTER starting work!! false promises of career opportunities despite breaking sales records, childlike monitoring and micromanagement and complete lack of business procedures. Awful environment awful leadership and very sad to see them taking advantage of charities good will and masquerading as a responsible business. The most unprofessional and toxic environment I have ever experienced in my career.

I have been working at 2evolve full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Best job available for backpackers willing to spend fun time chatting with people all day long in shopping mall/shopping centre/busy streets! The job is paid hourly so it gets you a secure weekly income! Helping the organizations they rapresent is also really honorable! Commission on top is a PLUS They provide full paid training and they look after you till you become independent! Socially one of the best job I have ever had as they believe in team culture and they organize often drinks all together!

    Cons

The job can be stressful and difficult sometimes but the team leaders are really helpful and keen on supporting!
