    Cons

I worked in administration for this company, and just want to make it known that the positive reviews here are fake. Mel (company owner) directly ordered me to write up positive 5 star reviews on here to counteract all of the negative ones, and rolled her eyes when I questioned this. She will make your life miserable if you're not in her clique, which I no longer was at that point, so I left. After years of employment with the company, I didn't get so much as a goodbye from management. I often heard upper management mocking and deriding the charities that engage their services. Making fun of a non-profit client who has just signed off on a 6 figure contract is not a good look, I'm afraid, and it doesn't go unnoticed. The call centre workers are routinely underpaid, and intimidated by management if they bring this up or complain about their awful treatment. I wouldn't recommend this job to anyone. Honestly, a job in fast food would be more morally upstanding.

I have been working at 2evolve full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Realistic targets, fantastic support and training, continued coaching within the role to develop to other positions, many opportunities for progression, fun incentives, friendly, approachable and understanding staff

    Cons

The role allows you to move across different charities, some people feel comfortable doing this but others don't like change so it depends on the individual

I worked at 2evolve full-time for less than a year

    Pros

There honestly aren’t any. The office is close to Central station. You start at 12 so get a lie in.

    Cons

Where do I start. The two stage interview process is ridiculously long and un necessary. I was told I would receive an intense 8 week training. I was given a “training journal” where you fill out what training you receive; I had the same training on “tone and pace” 3 times. Because there are always new people starting they forgot about you and your training. When I asked about if reaching targets mattered I was told not to worry, and if I demonstrated a good attitude it would be fine. I was sent home two hours early, unpaid, as I was overheard “being negative” during my break. I was then told in the morning that I needed to get my percentage up, (the first time I knew this was an issue) and that I had two days to do so. I was let go that same day. I didn’t receive any verbal or written warning prior to this. I was also told if you weren’t reaching targets you’d get counselling and help. When I asked for help on the phone they helped for 15 minutes and then left. At no point in the interview was I told the actual requirements of the job. I was put on three different programmes and charities in my first 4 days. They are CONSTANTLY interviewing new people to replace people they will let go. People are sent home for wearing shorts/skirts or spaghetti tops. The receptionists are hostile and rude. DO NOT WORK HERE.

I can see that you did not enjoy your time at 2evolve as all your comments are quite negative. The reason for our extensive interview process, which includes spending time in the call centre with callers, is to make sure candidates are clear on exactly what the role entails so I would have liked to understand in more detail what was a surprise for you. And it sounds like there was a mix up in your training sessions which I apologise for. Targets are always important in a sales environment and we tend to find staff with positive attitudes perform best. We always provide counselling, coaching and verbal warnings to casual staff that are not performing. We also try staff on different charities if they are struggling. And yes, if staff are not dressed appropriately for an office environment as per the dress policy, we do ask staff to go home and change. Although this was obviously not the right role for you, we have many happy and successful staff here and I wish you all the best in your endeavours.

I worked at 2evolve full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - The pay is reasonable for a backpacking job. - If you have to do charity fundraising, in my experience it's easier and less stressful doing it in a call center. This is not an endorsement of anything positive about 2evolve though. Would you rather do a degrading job on the street or in an office? - If you're a backpacker who's just arrived in Sydney the office is within walking distance of a lot of popular hostels, restaurants and clubs. - The people (not including management) I worked with were thoroughly decent.

    Cons

    - 1: What this job involves. If you're unlucky enough to clear the interview process for a job at 2evolve you will be trained to work in their call center. Training means being taught to read a script while emphasizing different emotional tones and being taught to operate a crude Microsoft software package. Once you've done that (and honestly, you could probably train your dumbest cousin to do these things) you begin making calls. The calls aim to raise money for a variety of high-profile charities. Different teams make different calls. Some aim to find new people to donate money to charities. Others aim to raise donations from existing charity members. I worked on both, and there are other teams which do other variations on the same basic call/get money theme. On a typical day you'll call around forty people. Very often they're pensioners, students or people who do not want to speak to you. Using various sales techniques you try to get these people to give you money. You are not encouraged to think of these people as people. They are wallets stuffed with cash. Your job is to open the wallet and take as much as you can. Imagine walking into an old person's home; you come across an infirm eighty-year-old woman, and decide to lift her off her feet, turn her upside down and shake her until all her money rustles to the ground. Well, at least the money is going to charity! In the old USSR dissidents used to believe that the political class would be brought down by embarrassment. They'd look around at the malfunctioning society they had built and continued to maintain, see how bad it had become, and simply slink off the stage. I imagine they'll reach this level at 2evolve fairly soon. Everyone involved will admit their embarrassment and shut the place down. Overall this is a boring job that requires little skill, with sinister direct sales overtones. You'd need superhuman endurance to do it for longer than a couple of weeks. Any professional qualifications or educational experience you previously had is worth nothing in this dead zone. -2: Performance Management. 2evolve use a system of targets, averages, daily performance reviews and twice daily team meetings to monitor your performance. Ostensibly this is to make sure you actually get people to give money to charity, but the system of targets and averages also functions as an easy way to fire you whenever management wants to. Taken as a whole the monitoring system sets up a series of demands, which management insists are reasonable, like, say, getting two people a day to sign up to the charity. A week later this becomes five people a day. Or six. At the daily team meetings your team leader sets a higher target. They think you'll get seven people to sign up in the next three hours. They says this like it's reasonable. When management discovers that it's system and it's demands are not reasonable, they don't conclude that the problem is with their demands or their system. They conclude that the problem is with the individual who cannot fit in with the system or meet it's demands. And that's when they sack you. -3. People management. Daily meetings with management had a claustrophobic, unctuous aspect.. Management at 2evolve is micro management. We were told to clean our shoes and not to wear hoodies. I'm surprised I didn't have to stick my hand up and ask a team leader every time I needed the toilet. After a few days the sense of taking orders and being commanded becomes insufferable. None of the micro-management is necessary and serves only to make those in management feel important, like they're doing something. The fascination of power in its purest form has been linked to the growing number of its accumulated victims. The close and constant monitoring of employees by management at 2evolve is a particularly smalltime and pointless form of this power. 4. Atmospherics. As you might gather from what I've written above, 2evolve has a truly terrible atmosphere. I've read other reviews that refer to camaraderie in the office, and yes, there is camaraderie, the kind that prisoners have in chain gangs. Everything has a bitter edge, smoking breaks, jokes, small talk of all kinds, draped as they are with the collective awareness of how awful it is to be stuck working at 2evolve. Management tries to brighten everything up by playing word games in the twice daily team-meetings. One day I watched as a colleague literally snorted in disgust and stormed to his desk, too embarrassed to play the demeaning and childish games any longer. Now you might counter all this and say, well, at least you're raising money for charity. Having spent some time in and around the fundraising industry, and specifically with 2evolve, I'd argue that you're better off getting some real skills and helping charities by working or interning for them directly, rather than debasing yourself here. This is an amoral job that masquerades as philanthropy and if you stay too long you'll end up despising most charities and most of the people you have to call.

Thanks for your very detailed review. You obviously did not enjoy your time in our call centre and we know that these roles are not for everyone. We do try to provide potential employees with as much information about the role as possible before they start so to limit a mismatch. This includes being clear that it is an outbound direct sales role that requires working to targets (nothing hidden or sinister!). It is also an entry level role with no requirements for previous experience or qualifications (we agree it's not brain surgery!). We also do have a dress code for all our staff and if you are working in the call centre, you will be expected to dress appropriately for an office. I hope you found a role that is a better fit and wish you all the best.

I have been working at 2evolve full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The location is central and easy to get to, the office itself is fairly modern and spacious. High turnover of staff mean you'll probably meet some people you like.

    Cons

I've been in middle management for some time, but am on my way out. The way senior management talks to me about the callers is just disgusting, there is absolutely zero respect for the staff they take on. Plenty on unpaid overtime (to the point of illegality) poor business practices, and borderline abuse on a daily basis. These charities are funding the owners' luxe lifestyles, don't be fooled into thinking it's a "good cause"

2evolve is commercial organisation that is proud of their staff and the great work they do on behalf of our client charities. We promote work/life balance and do not allow staff to work excessive overtime. There is regular turnover in our call centre as we provide both long term permanent opportunities and casual positions for WHV and locals that are looking for short-term roles. We are a high performance team but we also like to socialise and have fun. We encourage staff to communicate any concerns with their manager or HR representative so issues can be addressed.

    Pros

    The office is kinda nice.

    Cons

It's a frat house, the training is terrible, you don't know if you're going to have a job at the end of the day, and they don't really give you a chance. You're not helping charities, you're blindsiding people on the phone with a cheery tone. You might be desperate for any job, but this is less Iike a job and more like a long winded anxiety attack. Steer clear if you want a job longer than a week.

During our 2 stage interview process, the opportunities are described as outbound sales positions working to KPI's so I am unsure how you did not understand this. We recruit on a regular basis so never tell new employees that we wont be hiring more people. In fact we actually encourage and reward referrals. New hires do not need prior experience so we do provide extensive training and support but target driven roles can be stressful and do not suit everyone. We adhere to industry leading, ethical fundraising practices and standards but also try to make the environment fun. I'm sorry that you did not enjoy your time with 2evolve.

    Pros

Some people are actually nice and care about charity

    Cons

the fact that money that people donate actually end up in the pockets of the TERRIBLE managing director. Yes - the 'administration' costs from charities would include the insane amounts of money that is paid to 2evolve to do their Unethical fundraising. I was asked to come in to sit through the assessment centre for telefundraising WITHOUT even being phone screened. I literally called. Said I was interested, how soon can I start and BOOM - was invited to join the assessment centre for the next day (they didn't even have a copy of my CV LOL!) Office looks terrible and dated. Management are a bunch of rookies. The MD is an evil dictactor and needs to grow up.

2evolve has successfully recruited over 650,000 regular donors for charities and increased the ability of these charities to provide their services to the community. 100% of funds raised by 2evolve go directly to the charities we work with however we are not a NFP and have commercial arrangements in place with our clients. Our recruitment processes are very thorough including a phone screen and 2 stage interview processes and 2 references. Our offices could be updated though most people think they are nice and enjoy the environment here. Some of our managers are inexperienced as we offer opportunities for employees with potential to progress quickly in their careers. They are passionate and dedicated but we are looking to provide these new managers with more training and support.

    I worked at 2evolve

    Pros

    Vending machine in the kitchen

    Cons

Breaks are unpaid; wage is below the award for the first month. The actual job was different to the job ad, the interview scenarios and even their training. We were prepared for one thing and then dropped in the deep end when we were forced to start calling without enough information to give the supporters who answered the phone. Scripts were poorly worded and riddled with grammatical and spelling errors, and lacking basic information about the campaigns we were supposed to sell - and they were handed to us seconds before we had to start calling, with no chance to read them beforehand. Even the software was different from the training, all of which obviously sets you up to fail immediately while the shift leaders sit next to you and give disapproving looks. Part of the training was to listen to more experienced fundraisers, which meant I was treated to one team leader pressuring elderly and sick people to donate money they repeatedly said they couldn't afford. Absolutely unethical behaviour, and I'm very sure that if the charities knew the tactics used, they'd remove all affiliation with 2evolve. I was also charged $125 (around 5 hours' pay!) for the headset, which is obviously a necessity for the role, and it arrived covered in grease and someone else's hair.
