I have been working at AECOM full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Heavily supported, holistic and invested Graduate program. Balanced environment with a highly diverse set of people and projects to select. Workplace offers plenty of flexibility in working arrangements.

    Cons

Not much really. I suppose the screens and tables are a little old, but it's still a solid office space and a minor gripe to fill 20 words.

    Advice to Management

Probably new docking stations and standardised hardware. Again, not a major gripe; if that's the biggest thing I can offer, management must be doing well.

I worked at AECOM full-time for more than a year

      Pros

good people, flexibility to move across, large company, interesting problems, some good initiatives

      Cons

some teams are still boys clubs, tons of pressure on staying billable even when its out of your control, expected to upskill on your own time, shortsighted on innovation -- trying to copy rather than give room for actually innovating.

      Advice to Management

Stop thinking the worth of an employee is based on their billable hours. The least effective people in my team billed the most hours and always met their metrics. Most people I spoke to lied in their timesheets. Focus on what they are doing and the value they are adding, make timesheets actually show what people do so that the data can be analysed and used for progress not for ticking boxes.

I have been working at AECOM full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Opportunities to work on the best projects in Australia and globally. Leadership team who clearly work well together well and are genuinely passionate about the employees and what we do. Tends to attract the top talent, particularly at graduate level. Progressive in terms of flexible working and diversity initiatives. Well ahead of peers in this regard.

      Cons

Being part of a very large global company does have its drawbacks such as numerous systems and procedures to work with. Due to its scale the company can be quite conservative and less nimble than smaller organisations. Pay and benefits is typically around the median for the industry.

      Advice to Management

Continue with flexibility and diversity initiatives as they contribute to making AECOM a great place to work. More focus now needs to go on environmental outcomes and the company’s support of renewable energy. Time to take a stand and step away from any new build thermal coal projects.
