I worked at Abbott for more than 3 years

    Pros

+ Can't beat working on life saving products + Management seemed invested in growing their employees for the most part. I saw a lot of people get promoted while I was there. + Good relationships among employees. A lot of friendships made there. + I personally had an excellent work-life balance. I pulled long hours as needed, but that wasn't super frequent. Really depends on your team and the stage you're at in your projects.

    Cons

    - Some inter-team friction, you saw enough of "that's not my job", though personally I enjoyed working cross-team; people seemed helpful. - Not a great feedback loop for improving processes; a lot of decisions seemed to be more political than data-driven. Some lack of follow-through. - Some teams were overworked.

I have been working at Abbott full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Very stable company, and benefits are generally competitive

    Cons

Work life balance opportunities vary greatly depending what team you are on. Typically people promoted internally are paid less than those brought in from externally. I've seen many people leave Abbott and come back a few years later so that they can come back on a higher salary.
