    In state colleges are paid for.

    Cons

    It's like a family, so that makes it hard if you were to move out of state and to a different unit.

    Hard to get fired, it's steady work, people and culture are pretty great.

    Cons

    For a GS Technician, high demands for a mediocre salary, most people leave after 2-3 years and increase their take home pay by 20-40% in my field.

    Lots of good benefits. Guard is better quality of life than active duty

    Cons

    Can have bad supervisors. Part time sometimes hard to keep currently with operations

    Pros

    Joining the Air National Guard has afforded me so many opportunities and life experiences I wouldn't have lived if I hadn't joined. I will earn my pension after 20 years.

    Cons

    The military overall is a big political game with many players but you can play it and have your education paid for or at least get assistance and retire should you chose to do your 20.
