I have been working at Airbus full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Stable employment, a lot of vacations during the year, good quality of life, and not low salaries compared with other companies in the same sector.

    Cons

Very difficult career progression, and nearly impossible to get a big (higher than 5%) wage increase. It doesn't matter how good or bad you do during the year, you'll always get a 100% in your evaluation and your bonus is related to that mark.

I have been working at Airbus full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Big choice in terms of internal jobs offered: technical, managerial, etc. - Global presence - Job should be stable - Good salary

    Cons

    - Big company, sometime not easy to change things in a short time. - Top Management is financially driven and could take decision only based on this aspect.

I have been working at Airbus full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great flexibility (flexitime etc) the people you work with are fantastic The work is really interesting, who doesn't enjoy playing with planes? they try to encourage cross fertilisation of ideas It is a good place to work if you can find an interesting project/task

    Cons

Too much focus on management structures and pointless additional layers of management Checklist engineering takes priority over the actual engineering Climate of who can blame the supplier first is somewhat boring Most engineering occurs in Toulouse so sooner or later you'll need to decide if you're going to shift your life to France or accept that your career is limited With most of the big projects closing up now,...

    Advice to Management

there are simply too many middle managers for whom their entire working life seems to revolve around talking to other middle managers and making sure they can answer questions in meetings with senior managers immediately. Note this can mean that you need to constantly report progress and there are teams where there are as many people monitoring and reporting as there are actually doing the work. massive silo mentality...
