I have been working at Allen & Overy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Genuinely friendly, switched on, intelligent colleagues. Workaholics though and very driven. Much less rivalry between partners or between associates than other firms (including my previous firm) and good atmosphere at London office of camaraderie. Just as well as you'll spend a lot of time working.

    Cons

Hours. Pay is little less than US firms but hours proportionally better than them (i.e. expect to work late 2-3 nights a week and half the weekend rather than US firms late every nights, hardly any weekends. Most teams at A&O also good about respecting need to take uninterrupted holidays.

Toxic work environment, reception management team was fiefdom. Belittling, back stabbing culture. Not an enjoyable work environment and afraid of anyone doing their job better than them.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees better and get rid of over bearing front desk management team.
