I have been working at American Express full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Birthday leave and in Sydney a clerical day in lieu of an additional public holiday. Good location in Barangaroo, 5 min walk from Wynyard station.

    Cons

You would not believe you're working for a Fortune 500 company or one that gets given many awards as a good employer. The main computer programs for card maintenance etc (and I'm talking 10+ systems when there could / should be just one) look like they haven't been updated since the 90s, and Amex have no intention to upgrade these with urgency. Middle management are stagnant and do the bare minimum as they have cushy jobs which requires little of them. Many floors don't have modern computer screens, so expect to be working on a small square monitor. Hot desking is required for many positions which is unpopular and causes every day anxiety and stress before arriving at work. I was mislead by my pay packet, leaving me with 10-20k less in bonuses than promised was possible - assume your base pay is all you will get. I was told it was a regular office job, and once I arrived was told I was working in call centre with strictly regulated breaks.
