    Pros

Excellent culture; flexible working; inspiring leadership team; commitment to career development; innovative; really collaborative team

    Cons

Limited progression opportunities in the Australian market; US-driven strategy (although a more market-based approach is the new vision of Steve Squeri so this could change over time)

I have been working at American Express for more than 3 years

    Pros

Excellent work and life balance with ability to work from home, flexible work hours although it can depend on the type of work. Job growth opportunity abundant as well.

    Cons

Very slow to make decisions with too many stakeholders to engage including the ones you didn't even know that existed.

I worked at American Express full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The business definitely promotes a flexible workplace and believes in up-skilling and nurturing it's employees. If you want a career with AMEX and are good at what you do, you could probably have a job with them for the next 50 years.

    Cons

Very bureaucratic and political. I know other employees that really loved their job and the company, it just wasn't quite the right fit for me.

I have been working at American Express full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Relatively young team, independence and autonomy, diversity in the workplace

    Cons

Hot desking rules, technology is complicated and unfriendly and some platforms are just old, numerous systems and platforms, not much strategic direction or support in developing customers at the big end of town, not much of a voice, you are just a number and your output is just a number. Limited career and advancement opportunities

I worked at American Express full-time

    Pros

Amex enables great work/life balance. They offer lots of flexibility, autonomy, and opportunities to progress. The business is very focused on people; customers and employees.

    Cons

Pay increases for internal moves are extremely limited, so you need to negotiate the best salary coming in as an external candidate. Once you're in it is difficult to negotiate pay increases.
