    Pros

    - My managers were incredibly smart, caring, and talented. - You learn an immense amount about data analysis.

    Cons

    Pros

AG understands law and lawyers because they have been hit with the many lawsuits

    Cons

Sexual harassment. Racial discrimination (just check Law360 for details on how AG was found discriminatory last month). Sexist, racist jokes from senior leadership. Racist and exclusionary hiring and compensation practices. Nasty comments about employees’ weight, appearance, gender preference, intelligence (if no MBA or Ph.D you’re worthless). Young women employees paid to leave rather than continue with their harassment charges against egotistical male partners who are known to regularly womanize the pretty young women new to the firm. All this and more await you at AG. This is a seriously bad place to work if you are a woman, a minority, identify other than heterosexual, carry extra weight, and/or don’t have an Ivy League advanced degree. But if you like being bullied, discriminated against, belittled, and marginalized, and are cool watching that happen to others, by all means, get your application in.

I worked at Analysis Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good coffee, clean facilities, centrally located

    Cons

    1) Profound favouritism - you can actually be unintelligent as long as the right person(s) like you 2) Senior management consistently speaks poorly of clients even when clients make perfectly sensible requests As an example of the culture at Analysis Group, in one office of 25 people, all consultants and their +1s were invited to the firm's holiday party except for the receptionist. The reason given was because she had only started 2 months prior. (By the way, they made this person send out all the invites and organise logistics.)

I have been working at Analysis Group full-time

    Pros

Extremely intelligent and motivated colleagues, who are also friendly and nice. Everyone genuinely wants to help you learn and develop your skills. The Boston office has an annual ski trip to Stowe and an awesome holiday party at the MFA. I’ve heard from colleagues in other offices that they have similar events as well (San Francisco goes to Tahoe to ski). The Boston office space is beautiful, and every analyst gets their own office. The training here is also top notch, with analysts having mandatory training sessions in Excel, SAS, Stata, R, VBA, and lots of optional courses as well if you want to focus on a particular programming language. This could be a pro or a con, but compared to management consulting there is very little travel. Work life balance in consulting can be difficult, but not traveling makes it easier for me. As far as exit opportunities, most analysts leave to go to top grad schools, and AG helps prepare you with an extensive grad school workshop series.

    Cons

Consulting can have long and unpredictable hours, and economic consulting adds the additional layer of non-negotiable court deadlines. I’ve definitely had some late nights working with my team. AG has an internal labor market, which is essentially how you find your cases. Some people love it because it allows them to network their way into the cases they want, but I would personally appreciate a little more structure and help finding cases.

    Cons

    "Look elsewhere"

I worked at Analysis Group full-time

    Pros

The people you work with are genuinely nice, thoughtful, and kind. A few cases, especially high-profile cases, involve interesting research and data work. Your schedule is sometimes pretty flexible and the perks are solid. People often leave for great grad schools.

    Cons

Most of the work is either monotonous, detrimental to society, or both. You might find yourself defending people who have defrauded investors or sold mortgage backed securities. Worse, the work you do to build an expert report is extremely tedious and involves hours of manual footnote-checking. AG sells this job as one that involves working with a lot of data, but this is not a great place to develop your skillset if you're interested in a quantitative career- in fact, this job will probably be a detriment. Analysts feel replaceable because everyone's expected to leave in 2-3 years. The internal labor market, as many others have noted, is broken - you'll be assigned a case in one area and struggle to ever leave that area.
