I have been working at Appen for more than 5 years

    Pros

Remote, flexible and seemed like a great place at first

    Cons

Bare minimum pay, never paid for any training or qualification study time or testing. I was paid much more $4/hr more, before they bought Leapforce and cut our wages. I've worked here for over 5 years now and I cannot believe I'm still checking AppenConnect for work! It's not worth it.

Management to say the least imaginative Projects never implemented in reality are proposed, the application requires the extensive study of material and is unpaid. Constant overbooking. Little and unclear communication from project management, often none.

I have been working at Appen part-time for less than a year

    Pros

This type of work pays less and is usually less flexible. The work is not hard. The support team is great. The web tools are great.

    Cons

You do not get paid in a timely matter. One month is 2 weeks to a month is too long to wait. This is not a salary career. They do not know when a project ends. You just keep working ( another review above says so). I believe this is true because I asked about this and I did not receive a response from support the next morning. I usually get a response the next morning. Who knows how long this project will last. I have a job.

    Appen Response

Thank you for taking the time to provide us feedback. I want to clarify that we do pay in a timely manner which means that we pay when we say we will pay you. As for your suggestion of increasing the frequency of payments, we have passed along your feedback to our teams . We appreciate you working at Appen!

I worked at Appen part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Work from home, set your own hours.

    Cons

I have been working for Appen which was formally Leapforce for about 2 months now. Although it started out good, the whole work from home aspect quickly lost it's appeal. When it came time to actually pay me my funds were sent to a company called Payoneer, who was supposed to them send it to my bank account and it never showed up. When I called the said they would need to verify my bank account with a bank statement because my account was "Closed" (not true) after going back and forth for about a week, they told me they sent the money back to Appen and to contact them. There is no phone number to get ahold of ANYONE at this company folks!!! I have sent countless emails, and they have completely checked out. BEWARE! I have not been paid ONE PENNY after submitting 2 invoices with them. Appen and Payoneer place the blame on each other, and the money is just out in cyber space somewhere. Good thing this isn't my only form of income.

I have been working at Appen for less than a year

    Pros

Contract for a year and sporadically they follow the promises about the hours and type of work we signed and passed exam. Payments on time, support from project personnel were on time but not very useful.

    Cons

Really the company wants to refer it as a job but is a joke to be considered as that. Working as an agency for THE searching engine, when problems arise the literally cannot deliver solutions, just pass the problems and wait. In general the support personnel is not very experienced. Not a scam but not a job FOR SURE.
