    Pros

If you have joined in US then awesome team environment Free breakfast Amazing office

    Cons

Small team Manager micromanaging everyone Not worth Graduate’s time It’s all about making “APPIAN” better not the individual better which is actually disappointing Manager will have 1 on 1 with you every other week but it’s useless they just want to get rid of the people who are genuinely trying to fit it... all they care about is the people who are quick learners

    Advice to Management

If you don’t realise graduates are straight outta college they are new to work field and they can’t be expected to pick up new concepts quickly... some people are slow but that doesn’t mean they are not going to be good at their job... be patient give them proper chance. Trust me they are not working at this company just for the salary they want to actually succeed... don’t be a road block in their success

I have been working at Appian full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Bright, positive attitude, hard working team, all pulling in the same direction! Persistent attention to "the little things" , and making things right when there is a better way. Committed to bringing the resources and training that Sales needs to be successful in the field. Culture of "walking the walk", vs. "talking the talk", from founder/leadership to management to front line!

    Cons

Remote employees may not get the "vibe", that HO team members get.

    Advice to Management

Keep Listening! Customers, Prospects and Employees will tell you what they need to be successful when you sincerely (and consistently) ask. Culture counts! (we've got a great one today based on everyone's efforts, lets not lose it as we grow)

I have been working at Appian full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

A lot of consulting firms look for "butts in seats", silo their workers, and don't allow them to innovate. That is not the case at Appian. Consultants are given a lot of leash from the company, even if our customers don't always allow them to take advantage of it. Appian has a variety of different customers across different domains, which pose new and exciting challenges for consultants who want to be exposed to different...

    Cons

Just as with any consulting firm, billability is key and sometimes you get worked to the bone to meet customer demands. A bad manager will make matters much worse. To add insult to injury, Professional Services, the consulting wing of Appian, is certainly the black sheep of Appian and get treated as such. There is little time for consultants to work on self-growth, there is no indie time, and little investment in training...

    Advice to Management

Invest in your PS employees. The burden on PS continues to grow and the compensation is beginning to stagnate. The meritocracy that Appian and Professional Services hope to achieve is becoming more flat and less obvious as we continue to grow. The newly set raise structure disincentizes employees who go above and beyond their project work. On top of that, other departments and partner companies will pay higher wages,...

    Advice to Management

I recently left Appian and can say that this was the least fulfilling and most frustrating place I’ve ever worked. In short, I felt like the collateral damage for what happens when poor management is allowed to continue in their role unchecked, at the expense of the team and the company as a whole. I came to Appian with the impression that I was joining a fast moving, high growth tech company that valued people and...

I have been working at Appian full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Amazing technology that customers do not understand. Once and if they do, the growth can be amazing. Excellent mid and low level sales management. They get it. Great place to start your career out of college.

    Cons

Pricing is a serious issue. Many times unless the prospect is a big name in a vertical, price to value becomes an obstacle. Leadership has blinders on that they are so specific to holding an unrealistic price that dampers growth. Work life balance is almost non existent. Flex PTO was just another way to reclaim allocated funds away from the employee. Leadership is afraid to get competitive with companies like Salesforce...

    Advice to Management

While promoting within to upper management on the surface is a great thing, temper that against the experience to lead the company to the next level. Stay focused on one initiative at a time. Appian has the potential to be great, be the leader in the marketplace. Define what Appian is to the world and tell the world.

    Pros

Working at Appian is invigorating. Appian hires very bright people who strive to delight their internal and external clients. Appian is committed to being the best in class enterprise low code application platform and continues to impress and expand our position in the marketplace with the analysts. Employees genuinely care about one another, and the team spirit is alive and well.
