I worked at Australia Post for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great location at 111 Bourke St. Newly refurbished offices. Good work / life balance. A well known company to have on your CV. The digital industry is like a "little village" in Melbourne, so if you're friends with the right people, you'll probably like it.

    Cons

In the Australia Post Digital team, working hard and doing a good job isn't enough to progress or to even get a coveted permanent job if you're hired as a contractor. Recognition, promotions, permanency and acting opportunities are reserved for people who are friends with their hiring managers. I even witnessed laughable situations where a manager resigns, and then a newly hired direct report contractor is suddenly promoted to that departing manager's role and made permanent - all during an apparent hiring freeze. Be aware that the digital team is split between the technology side and creative side, and then those two sides are divided further between people who work on projects and people who work with the "home" team. The working environment can vary drastically between these different groups.

    Pros

Work life balance. Team are all friendly, AusPost do care about their employees

    Cons

Things take a long time to get down. You definitely have the feel you are working in a government style organisation. The work is repetitive and boring. Systems are outdated.

    Pros

Trusted brand Cool projects that are at a large scale, given the reach Work life balance

    Cons

Internal promotion is difficult for men, around 90% of these opportunities are given to women A large amount of talent has left the business due to redundancies and restructure in 2018, need to be careful who you report to, as they may be inexperienced
