I worked at Australian Energy Market Operator full-time for less than a year

    Pros

AEMO has lot of calibre with ability to get really lot of things done. It can set standard in energy market of Australia and push others to match the standard.

    Cons

Poor mid-management. Top mgmt really wants to get things done and push the deliveries and ownership but middle and operations is really poor in their response. Noone in AEMO really wanna take any decision. hey keep pushing things to other guys and wait for someone to pull the plug. Projects keep hanging for monthssssss coz of right decision making ability. Things which can be done in matter of weeks have to wait for half an year to get done. Really sad situation.

I have been working at Australian Energy Market Operator full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Excellent flexible working arrangements, mostly friendly staff.

    Cons

Not people focused enough, project deadlines should be taken more seriously and extreme silos. People and Culture team ( HR) has plenty of bullying within itself.

I worked at Australian Energy Market Operator full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some of the brightest, hardworking and delightful engineers in the country, who're working on groundbreaking new projects with the industry at large. I can only speak for Melbourne IT in that there are indeed opportunities for advancement for those who fit in. Now, that doesn't necessarily equate with competency and goodwill, rather laughing at cruel jokes and belittling the user base and hard working IT contractors.

    Cons

Inversely proportional to some wonderful engineers and other non-IT staff exists some of the most corrupt, feckless and repugnant individuals to ever grace the workforce. Yes, for some mid-ranking ?IT managers and their well-protected sycophantic toadies comes opportunities to throw good people under the bus if it: a) futhers their own advancement, b) hounds someone out, c) is a panacea for self-consuming insecurity, or c) because schadenfreude is cool.
