I have been working at Avaya full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The technology is outstanding. Most of the direct supervisors/managers are outstanding. Everyone works very hard.

    Cons

Salary increases/bonuses (major compensation)/perks stop at the VP level. Upper management spends a lot of time telling employees thank you and how appreciative of how hard everyone is working but that doesn't pay the bills. Everyone thought it would improve after emerging from bankruptcy but nothing has changed.

I worked at Avaya full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Co-workers are fantastic. Unlimited PTO is nice (but is also a curse).

    Cons

Upper management is terrible and has no real direction. They don't invest in the employees whether it is with pay increases, 401k match, training, etc. Company is outsourcing or off-shoring a lot of work.

I worked at Avaya full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

My co-workers made it worthwhile to come to work, very customer focused and want to do a great job.

    Cons

Upper management does not have a clue of what you do. They are not interested in hearing any feedback from employees and if you don't like it you can leave. Over loaded with work and cannot provide good service to customers. Very metrics driven and management not focused on their customers.

I worked at Avaya for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some great people who are highly motivated with excellent technical knowledge.

    Cons

Extremely hierarchical organisational structure. People largely viewed as fungible assets who can be exchanged and transferred with ease. Upper management doesn't understand that knowledge can't simply be transferred, particularly specialist knowledge that has been acquired over a lifetime of work. Plans are in flexible, especially with regard to company acquisitions. People made redundant without proper understanding of the impact. Currently being restructured after filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US.
