I have been working at BHP Billiton for more than a year

    Pros

Good people Easy accessible Galleria office and on site parking Very matrixed organization. Great cafeteria

    Cons

Workforce separated as Executives versus everyone else. The employees appear to be overworked and unable to keep up with their work

    Advice to Management

Respect everyone on the workforce. They are your biggest assets. Contractors provide vital services, to pretend they aren't important negates their work.

I have been working at BHP Billiton full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Flexible work schedules are great! The overall environment in the 5 years I’ve been here is good too. They hire the top people.

    Cons

There are too many hoops to jump through to get things done. The systems are not the best for reporting. Too many things are done manually.

I have been working at BHP Billiton full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Competetive compensation with annual review of the market Modern systems- you work in an environment that has the latest tools of work Global connectivity to peers enabling sharing of best practices across the business Respectful environment Safety Focused

    Cons

Instability of the oil and gas industry leads to an environment of reduced job security. Relatively flat organisation structure limits upward mobility in current position.

    Advice to Management

While the move towards globalization is beneficial there is still merit in reintroduction of local personnel to support local assets.
