I worked at BHP Billiton full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Safe work environment, motivated colleagues and shared vision. Company has a very open culture of sharing and learning for significant incidents (Samarco, fatalities etc.)

    Cons

Pay rises below CPI, some sexist ‘old boys club’ mentality on some mine sites management not always particularly experienced or well trained in their fields.

    Advice to Management

    Sack Accenture.

I worked at BHP Billiton full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Remuneration, IT Equipment, Central Business District location

    Cons

Business politics, micromanagement, toxic behaviour (bullying & lying ) in department, a lot of talking about core values but not acting towards them.

    Advice to Management

Stop leadership for dummies buzzwords and start active listening to the employees, stop just promising changes and actually make changes, value the employees and not see them as executioners.

I have been working at BHP Billiton full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Bhp has fully embraced flexible working and actively encourages employees to consider what would work for them

    Cons

Constant reorganisations are unsettling and worrying around ongoing job security

    Advice to Management

Organisational change management during the constant reorganisations has not been very well done. This should be a priority.

I have been working at BHP Billiton full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work life balance, good pay and benefits, smart and talented co-workers not all trying to back stab like in some other industries.

    Cons

Generally older co-workers and fewer social activities on Friday (which is both a pro and con)

    Advice to Management

Not be influenced by what shareholders want in the short-term. Consider the longer term future of the company.

I have been working at BHP Billiton full-time for more than a year

    Pros

None to speak that are greatly different for any other large company. BHP has no outstanding features that I can think of.

    Cons

Unorganized mess as far a management is concerned. There seems to be no future plan and it is all knee jerk reaction to situations as they arise.
