I worked at BSI Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good people Strong international brand Close knit team atmosphere A very work/life balance friendly office, very rarely pressure to stay more than half an hour late

    Cons

Very poor management Sheep like approach to growing the company, if management would stop copy catting SAI global and other major competitors they could develop their own niche.

    Advice to Management

Less blind following the blind approach For such a small company (the australian office at least) it would be logical to discuss major changes in staff and approach before deciding and dictating

I worked at BSI Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great team and great middle managers/team leaders. Office is fairly friendly and different departments work together decently.

    Cons

Leadership team is very out of touch with the rest of the workers (except Food GM/Finance GM). No real management from them and when there is, it is micro-management. Salary/bonuses/commission are noticeably below industry standard. No training, promotional, development opportunities. No culture in the workplace. No celebrations. GMs are always out at meetings, lots of strategies talked about, nothing is done. ... Employee attrition is monstrous.

    Advice to Management

If you spend as much time on developing culture, supporting team and celebrating them as you did on making rules and hiding in your offices, the company would actually go somewhere. Big part of the ongoing failure is attrition, fix it.

I worked at BSI Group for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very diverse range of clients across a broad spectrum of products. Many of the products offered by BSI are cutting edge environmental, IT security and Food Safety. And certification can lead improvements in how clients operate their businesses.

    Cons

Feels like a satellite office - all thinking and ideas should come out of London. There is a lack of culture, feels like you are going through the motions rather than delivering value for clients.

    Advice to Management

New local management will help - give the new management team room to develop a mission and purpose for the Australian operation rather then pulling them left & right in an attempt to clone the UK operation.

    Advice to Management

Respect and listen to your staffListen to your staff, pump life back into the business, stop shifting blame and bleeding your customers dry.

I worked at BSI Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great people to work with except that there is nothing good

    Cons

Poor Salary Too much micromanagement No appreciation given to top employees instead the management demotivates you all the time

    Advice to Management

Management team needs to let the employees work and stop getting into their daily activities. Instead of micromanagement start making strategies for the organisation as that is what you are supposed to do.

    Pros

    Cons

Front line management incompetent, mid and top management have no ideas on how to grow and keep staff. Turn hover as big as the incompetency of the managers.

    Advice to Management

Replacing the existing "self nominate" managers in place. Recruiting staff with proper people and business skill.

    I worked at BSI Group

    Pros

The Clients interesting and varied projects to audit. If you are an experienced client manager/lead auditor don't join this company

    Cons

Management have no idea most our ex food auditors who are unable to assess or implement risk management. Attitude is very much to work Client Managers to burn out and forget that it is the CM that is the fee earner. Are not capable or able to provide support to CM's, back end office admin staff are empowered over CM. Australia branch has very high turnover of CM's as all good CM's normally only last a maximum of 1....5yrs
