I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amazing people, clients, exposure, and training. The best place to develop personally and professionally, and make lifelong friends.

    Cons

Workload and intensity can vary greatly from week to week, depending on the case. This makes it challenging to develop regular routines. The constant eating out and hotel food makes it challenging to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

    Advice to Management

Management are awesome. Keep leading the way.

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - C-level exposure from the start, exceptional learning opportunities for young professionals
    - supportive culture, strong focus on coaching

    Cons

    - despite improvements over the last years, 60+ hour work hours are still the norm

    Advice to Management

Ruthlessly focus on sustainability, LT is still not sufficiently incentivized to improve case team working hours / happiness

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The company most focused on results and impact of any I have seen.
Working with among the brightest and yet humble people in business today.
Learn more in a year at Bain, at any level, than I have ever learned anywhere else.

    Cons

Yet to find a downside to working at Bain.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing - Bain is unique globally... One day someone will write a best-selling book about this company...

    Pros

Working at Bain allows you to work with teams of extremely talented and down to earth people to create some achievable and tangible results for clients. The learning opportunities are boundless at every level. There is a genuine interest in people development and in increasing sustainability throughout career. The work is interesting and challenging, you are never bored.

    Cons

Work can be unpredictable and work life balance may suffer as a result. Involves a degree of travelling which may not be ideal for everyone.

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time

    Pros

Incredibly talented, diverse and good natured group of peers who genuinely care about you and support your ambitions.

    Cons

Often long hours with challenging clients. Uncertainty around travel leaves you unable to make long-term commitments (e.g. team sports). Case experience varies drastically.

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Huge investment in your personal development (both for life at Bain and for life outside of Bain). Super ambitious and hard working people who also love to have a good time! Work is always changing allowing diverse skill development. Comprehensive review which enables employees to hone all aspects of their toolkit.

    Cons

As a consultant you lack final decision-making power (that is, you don't own a P&L line). You can therefore be quite distant from the final decision of the company/client.

    Advice to Management

Keep investing in culture! It works!

    Pros

    - Friendliest, most supportive, and smartest group of people you'll ever work with
    - Relentless focus on client impact - activities that won't drive impact are deprioritised
    - Pragmatic - it's large and growing, but doesn't have the bureaucracy of other businesses its size
    - Phenomenal learning opportunities - investments by the firm are massive, from global training to mentorship
    - Never gets boring and always challenging - as soon as you master a role, the next milestone is around the corner

    Cons

Limited sustainability, driven both by travel and hours worked

    Advice to Management

Take sustainability seriously for people at all levels
