I worked at Bank of Queensland full-time

    Pros

BOQ has a good work culture and provides a good balance with personal life. The head office location in Brisbane is also good.

    Cons

The business is very behind in technology - both internally and customer facing app and internet banking. This makes the business quite inefficient.

    Advice to Management

The bank needs to focus on providing its retail business with better technology to enable better technology experience - this will also help BOQ employees to actually want to use the bank for their personal requirements.

    Pros

    9-4pm Job.
local dont need to drive to nsw or brisbane.

    Cons

No career progression for Branch staff.
    Only support corporate staff.
No development plans or Growth channels for Personal Development within this company - they might say there is - but its broken and un wanted by management. Thus in turn slows your development and progression.
    Very old systems and procedures.
Not up with the times on any of the IT infrastructure.
    Slow acting management and staff.
Training and On-boarding is a complete joke.

    Advice to Management

Get staff that are knowledgeable, that can on-board new staff, the correct way and not the old way.
Old is Old for a reason.
Get up with the times and start changing the infrastructure. your a bank. making heaps and heaps a year and i am still using XP (yes, Windows XP) - pathetic.

I have been working at Bank of Queensland full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Finally the board did something - got rid of the CEO but it was too late as damage has already been done. Great offices. Great christmas parties in all states. great PR team.

    Cons

Not much top talent left- Why the board would let the Group executive brendon white leave just shows how out of touch the bank is - he and peter deans were the only members that cared and fought for business bank. Now watch the new retail executive try to undo all the great work done by them. Senior leadership team fight gossip and bully to further their own agenda - all are after the top job. No one cares anymore. Its not safe to speak up as you get shut down and black listed. IT doesn’t work.

    Advice to Management

time to clear the executive committee out. Listen to what the bank needs, look at the facts. Be fair to all departments not just favour the retail bank that is not successful. Cut down on IT staff travelling -it’s not a good look.
