I worked at Boeing full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Remuneration is slightly above average compared to other Defence sector employers

    Cons

There is a disturbing culture of systemic workplace bullying and intimidation. Everyone knows about it, especially in the Finance group and “on site” aircraft maintenance. · Senior managers are “glass-jaws” and insist on one-way dialogue. None of them are interested in listening, let alone taking on board fair and reasonable criticism. · Outside appointments are treated as a threat by senior management....

    Advice to Management

You need to tear down the HR group, and rebuild it from the ground up using fresh eyes from outside BDA. · External appointments are a good thing! Welcome them and tap into their experience and fresh ideas. · Stop doing pointless reorgs that achieve absolutely nothing in the long run. · You have a serious bullying problem. Just because you’re the only one who doesn’t realise it, doesn’t mean it’s...

    Pros

    Big name. Process oriented.

    Cons

Bureaucratic, complex hierarchy, politics, very slow process, too large to change, managements'interest is only to keep their position and navigate the corporate world safely till retirement

    Advice to Management

Stop bullying and introduce new ideas

I have been working at Boeing full-time

    Pros

38 hour work week with possible 9 day fortnight

    Cons

Management promote a toxic culture within the production team in particular. I have seen multiple people crying at work due to the pressures imposed by management. There is no trust and management don't care about their employees.

    Advice to Management

I know concerns have been raised about certain individuals but there has been no action taken. Listen to employees when they tell you something is wrong here and live the values you espouse instead of tolerating managers who create toxic cultures.

    Advice to Management

Articulate clearly your requirements; support and understand those that perform them and strive to meet your and your customers' expectations.

I have been working at Boeing full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Technical depth in the company is phenomenal, and training (if your K level mgr will approve it) is high quality and plentiful.

    Cons

Unless you are a software engineer or working at Ann St you'll be producing paper. Lots and lots of paper. The most technical thing a hardware engineer will do is write the statement of work for the numpties in subcontracts so they can go and pay someone else to do the work. Unstable structure with the exec team playing musical chairs continuously. Big aviation focus in all the PR material and very little mention...

    Advice to Management

Rationalise the mandatory AU and US training. "Guarding our homeland" is a pile of garbage to Aussie employees - it ain't our home. Outsource the HR department. No way the company will grow with that level of incompetence in hiring and responding (if ever) to external applicants. If you can't get rid of IJCS at least give the staff meaningful job titles, just like you have for the managers and executives.
