    Pros

Boohoo is an exciting business and is working hard to support customers and colleagues by driving forward on new initiatives There has been a refreshing change in strategy, focusing on doing the right things to support growing the business Like many companies, Covid-19 has given an opportunity for better flexibility with home working, improving work/life balance enormously The pace of change is exciting and provides plenty of opportunity for growth and development The future is bright in Boohoo IT!

    Cons

Legacy IT solutions need to continue to evolve

I have been working at Boohoo full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    • Great people across the business who are willing to help/ assist, allowing an amazing culture and family vibe • Good opportunities to promotion. Not just that, but if you feel that you want to try or learn something else, the company are open and want you to expand your knowledge. • IT Senior Management are always available to help/guide and expand employee skill-sets by training courses etc. • Autonomy which is great as this allows you to engage, learn, delivery and control your projects that works. Following best practice and governance of course! • Company are passionate about what they do and for me in IT, everyone involved to drive results appreciates what needs to be done and work closely together support each other! I couldn’t ask for more! • IT is always changing and for me, Boohoo is the perfect fit! I am involved in several projects where what we are delivering is going to make a positive impact for the business and our employees! Every day is different, challenging yet exciting but worth it when you see what we deliver and what when you see that end result! • If you find a IT role for you at Boohoo, go for it, you won’t be disappointed

    Cons

I have not yet encountered anything that I personally believe had led to a negative Impact in my role

"Great IT department and place to work"

I have been working at Boohoo full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Boohoo has been going through a change in the IT department over the past year and its really starting to pay off. Previously the IT area didn't have a good reputation due to the environment and culture, but with the change in CIO last year there has been a real step change in the way things get done. A focus on delivery and improving the back-end technology is evident and a lot benefits are being delivered to the organisation. There has been a lot of investment and growth in to the people side in IT too and this is really great to see. There has been a bit of churn with some new people joining but not lasting (they didn't get the fast paced nature of boohoo and were more concerned with their own ego rather than being able to deliver) but this is pretty natural when expanding a department. There are some really great people across the IT team, which is now a mix of those who have been with Boohoo throughout its growth and new people. There is a real drive to make the IT area a success and a great place to work for everyone in the teams. There has been some new senior managers in IT and it's obvious that they are driving forward positive changes and are keen to make the place a success. The environment is dynamic and very fast paced and there is a shared consensus to take the IT area to the next level. A lot of change is being made to implement processes without it becoming a pointless 'tick-box process' approach. There are some great benefits across the building (pre COVID-19) with drinks and pizza on the last Friday of the month, a great staff restaurant and ad-hoc thank you's regularly taking place with food vans and other things. It's a real social culture and very much a work hard play hard attitude with the teams in IT and across the business. It looks to be investing in its people and that's great to see especially in the current climate - really nice to be with an organisation that values its hard working colleagues!

    Cons

If you aren't used to fast pace then this isn't the place for you. The IT team is small in relation to a lot of other companies so being at the top of your game is essential. There seems to be some negative reviews lately from people who have left. Reading these they seem a little fictional and not reflective of the environment so best to take these with a pinch of salt.

I worked at Boohoo full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-The actual team you work with are amazing (the ones who haven't left or been pushed out). -The buyers are great to work with and know what they are doing. -The shares scheme and bonus are worth it but this is what is held over you to try and stay and then leave after 3 years if you can stick it out. -The parties are nice but as I said before, you are a second-class citizen as a tech if you even attempt to join activities if they are during the day.

    Cons

-You will not get anywhere unless you suck up to the middle management of the technical team and let go of all your morals regarding the working conditions of suppliers and workers in Boohoo's UK manufacturing base. -People are pushed out and fired with little to no reasoning; the only people who last are the ones who don't voice their opinions. - The tech team is treated differently to other departments, regarding parties and staff events the tech team is made to be at their desks and set an example (while all other departments aren't working), this is the technical managers fear that we will be seen as "under-performing). -You will fit 1-3 hours a day depending on covering other staff that are off (or not employed 'yet') you are then expected to measure and annotate a minimum of 15 workbooks per day or you are threatened with appearing to be underperforming. -All this work is logged in spreadsheets and has to be submitted every Friday. -This does not include time spent checking production and answering supplier queries. -Pay between staff is all over the place with some techs earning vastly different amounts with only a year or two between them in experience. - There are no values when coming to fitting the clothing, anything gets let through and you will not have job satisfaction if you care about the product you are putting out with your name on it.

    I worked at Boohoo full-time

    Pros

Give you lots of cheap free stuff like tote bags and notebooks to distract you from the fact that they don't pay you well at all.

    Cons

Awful, greedy company that does not care one bit about their employees. Just wanted to confirm, like a lot of reviews have said below, that Boohoo used the furlough scheme to make a LOT of redundancies across the entire company. Cannot see the justification in a massive company like Boohoo making redundancies during a global pandemic. Meanwhile Boohoo is booming, they're making money off of coronavirus fashion face masks and other distasteful 'merchandise' and buying out companies that have gone into administration because of the current climate. It's just gross. It goes without saying that (unnecessarily) losing my job during a global pandemic has been beyond stressful and exhausting. To top it off, Boohoo has made everyone sign NDA's which stops us from talking about this to anyone except immediate family which is insane! I'm not allowed to discuss what happened with my former workmates which makes everything so awkward now. They just truly backed me into a corner and left me feeling really down during a time that is already overwhelming and stressful.
