    Advice to Management

I worked at Boral full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

None, paid weekly and on time

    Cons

Unless you’re family at the Port Macquarie plant or close friend or keep your mouth shut you’re put in Coventry, harassed and treated like crap. I’ve worked for Boral for 20+ years from Canberra and up the coast to Port and under this management I was harassed for speaking out on safety, Boral own policies, and finally when they were scaling down the work here and moving north to Coffs they set me up under the safety act where they can sack you without your entitlements or benefits such as long service.

    Advice to Management

Head office need to look into these rogue managers and one batches in particular and find another alternative to culling long term loyal employees, offer them the casual work first, pay them their dues , you made 104million dollars profit last financial surely you can find better ways to save money rather than firing good workers and giving them nothing for the profits you made from their sweat...... not to mention we are Australian not American where they treat, cheat and abuse workers.

I have been working at Boral full-time

    Pros

Have a good appetite to want to change and do things well. Attempt to move with the times and become more relevant. There are great opportunities internally for progression also.

    Cons

The State based structure leads to duplication and extra effort. Can lead to tension between states and duplication of effort. Seems to be a lack of leadership at the senior leadership level within Australia.

Not very good for work life balance, people tend to work long hours and travel regularly.

    Advice to Management

Suggest moving to a product aligned business to remove duplication and effort to achieve the common goals.

    Pros

The people and the team who hold everything together. Good salary.

    Cons

The rigid processes and difficulty to get anything done. Lack of support from managers who manage up, unrealistic work loads and expectations. Not enough staff to do the work, long hours on a base salary.

    Advice to Management

Invest in technology to give the staff the systems to make their jobs easier and reduce duplication.
