I worked at British Red Cross part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fexi time Working from home Expenses paid Friendly work environment Some travelling

    Cons

My experience with this company was a slippery slope. Although I was trying to be proactive, to follow the managerial guidance in project, my feedback was always negative. I can say I have received about 2-3 positive comments in my employment. While on the outside felt like I was receiving support, even if I was following the guidelines, I would still receive bad criticism. This started affected the quality of my work even more and finally led to me leaving. The workload was so much (although I don't mind a busy environment), the work quite repetitive and there wasn't proper communication and awareness of other people's work within the whole team.

I worked at British Red Cross full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The Red Cross/Crescent does great work around the world. Some great & caring people on the 'shop floor'. Generous annual leave allowance.

    Cons

Flawed management who appear to have forgotten what the organisation exists for, sorry to say too many egos and politics. Not every manager but too many that hold the organisation back. Pay is poor even for the charity sector. Too little done to retain staff which hurts the organisation more, the turnover rate is well above the national average.
