    Pros

Free meal per shift, monthly staff feedback meetings, enriching the lives of others

    Cons

Hard physical labor, low wage, long hours moving around on your feet, there is no housekeeping staff at sterling house, minimal assistance from management, understaffed,

    Advice to Management

Listen to and support RA staff so that their input is valued and so they do not feel rushed with residents or over worked.

    Pros

If they continue to lose $400 million a year you won't suffer for long.

    Cons

Experienced managers replaced with the young and desperate.
Can not hire good staff for what they pay and the residents suffer.
Medical insurance is expensive for a family and deductible is crazy high.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to sell the company for a quick profit and look to the long term by investing in your employees.

I worked at Brookdale Senior Living (More than a year)

    Pros

The residents and a few other staff members made each shift worth it.

    Cons

The middle-level management clearly did not want to be there or enjoyed the work they did.

    Advice to Management

Choose wisely. If your position doesn't make you happy then, maybe look for work elsewhere because your negativity trickles down to the staff and lowers overall morale.

    Pros

Residents are amazing. Staff is amazing and enjoy their residents. Located centrally. Shirts supplied. Some meals are provided after resident are served.

    Cons

Executive director needs to work on people skills and encouraging staff instead of tearing them down. Short staffing is not beneficial to the residents or staff - only your bottom line. Only chips in when corporate is around or going to be.

    Advice to Management

Corporate needs to review the overall condition of the property compared to a year ago. Residents down. Staffing down. Moral is down.

    Pros

Learning about memory care has been a new and awesome experience. The caring of the resident depends on staff communication. I started my career with the care of newborns and have gone full circle

    Cons

Frequent upper staffing changes due to what seems to be lack of what the needs of the community are at the present time. It appears people are hired when they will take the job and not experienced for a high pressure position.

    Advice to Management

Establish better means of communication between BOSS and staff. No one likes an unsettled environment.

    Pros

Working with amazing elderly people and being able share in their joys of life, confort them in tough times, and be there to help them when they need it.

    Cons

Management. This company simply does not care about the people who live in their facilities. Anyone spending a decent amount of time in the Westlake Hills community will be able to see that. But not enough adult children visit their parents anymore, and certainly not for long enough to notice the injustices there.

    Advice to Management

Quit. Leave these elderly people alone, since you cannot seem to do any actual tangible good for them Youre very good at draining bank acvounts, pensions and retirement savibgs to provide substandard living conditions, though.
