    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I worked at CHATIME Australia for more than a year

    Pros

Free drinks, strong staff relationships (based on mutual struggles), kind customers in general

    Cons

Terrible management, franchisees are not properly supervised. The priority is making money, so at my store everyone was being illegally underpaid, given no penalty rates, expected to work overtime and forced to work alone for up to five hours. At times it was so so busy I would have a line of 30 customers and be alone. It was extremely damaging to my mental and physical health. Manipulative owner, guilt tripped staff into taking shortcuts and suffering to try support her business. Upper management didn’t do enough to supervise this, and were constantly testing employees on memory of a huge amount of recipes, regularly adding complicated drinks that no one ordered. The work was either mind numbingly boring or insanely stressful. I was expected to take the role of manager and extra responsibilities at no extra pay. Just awful, I still have nightmares.
