I worked at Cameron full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Cameron is a great training ground. You can learn six sigma, best of breed financial practices, SAP and more. If you are young or have never worked for a best of breed fortune 500 company I highly recommend Cameron. There are significant opportunities for advancement especially if you are willing to relocate. In many ways Cameron are operating at a very high level that many large companies can only aspire to copy. Some of the businesses are really executing well, with specific mention to the Surface division which is operating at a different level than the other divisions. Upper management for the most part is very approachable and likable and this starts with Jack Moore. Right up to Group President level there is mostly an open door policy. Finally let me say that Cameron does not mess around when it comes to ethics and compliance. They hold the line on their business and will not knowingly stray into questionable practices.**

    Cons

**HR is broken. The human resources functional area is huge, slow, inconsistent, unable to maintain privacy and very political. This is not to say their are not some great people in HR, there are, but they are significantly outnumbered. Like many companies, the business operates different divisions and in different regions and the cultures change dramatically with the leaders of each area driving these micro-cultures. A simple transfer can make it feel like you are working for a totally different company. The current ERP rollout is a mess and will be for another 2-3 years. Cameron is strong enough to get through it and make it a success but short term it is ugly. The company has been under financial stress (even though they are very profitable) and have been freaking out a little and making some bad decisions.
