I have been working at Campbell Soup Company full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I have been working at Campbell Soup for over 10 years in retail sales. I love this company. It is good to its employees over the years. Colleagues are helpful and professional. I appreciate the company for it has provided well for me and my family. It is such an iconic brand for American consumers.

    Cons

It is just a shame that with the recent acquisition of Snyder's that pushed the company over the edge. It is even worse that the Board decided to move Keith McLoughlin into Interim CEO role. I checked with people in retail appliances and they have horrible things to say about McLoughlin. He destroyed the value of Electrolux ever since he moved to Electrolux. He shut down 4 US factories and moved them to Mexico. This had caused significant market share loss for Electrolux. Laundry products decreased from 16% market share to less than 4% in just 6 years. They could not make these products in the new Mexican factories. Also the Mexican plants could not make refrigerators at the same quality and the poor quality had never recovered. He decided to launch the premium Electrolux brand products in 2008 when the market tanked. This costed Electrolux over 1 B$ of profit loss during the past 8 years. Recently, he initiated and botched the GE Appliances acquisition which cost the company over 175 M$ in break up fees and employees there lost over a year of distraction.

I worked at Campbell Soup Company full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    * Loved the people. Made some friends that I will be close to 20 years from now * Good work-life balance by CPG standards * Love the brands and the culinary spirit there

    Cons

    * Just tons and tons of management layers. Creates tons of busy work, neuters getting anything done and leads to rampant politics. They keep bringing in consultants that tell them this, but they can't seem to bring themselves to take a layer out, they just trim the number of bodies each time. * Lack of integrity at the most senior levels. Not that they are breaking any laws, but they don't do what they say and don't follow through on promises. Main reason I left. * Very challenging industry with current culinary trends. They know it and are trying to change, but have been getting their lunch eaten by smaller start-ups.
