I worked at Canadian Natural Resources full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Recognized for effort and corporate thinking.

    Cons

Some would say this company works you too hard and expects too much. I think work demands fluctuate on every job. You do what you have to and get your job done.

I have been working at Canadian Natural Resources full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - FIFO, decent camps at site, uplift for working at site Unless CNRL is your only employment option, I would strongly suggest avoiding working here. When asking around, you will undoubtedly learn of CNRL's poor reputation in the industry.

    Cons

    - A significant number of managers are unethical, and will throw other (often lower ranking) employees under the bus to cover their own mistakes, often fabricating lies - As with most companies, HR is not there to help you, but the company. HR will strategize with managers behind your back to minimize impact to the company. - The above points surely matter less when you are well connected and/or have others to back you up - CNRL owed me for unpaid wages, and after asking HR I was told I would not be paid. I filed with the Alberta Labour Board, after which CNRL paid up. - I cannot recommend enough to record all important conversations you have with managers and HR, especially when just starting if you decide to work here. CNRL has paid settlements for signed NDAs to mitigate exposure of their shady operational and business practices. - Managers of certain departments will take advantage of, cheat, and make vague threats to you if you do not stand up for yourself, and/or have proof of what was promised to you earlier (verbal agreements/negotiations seem to be common at the company, which is worth nothing down the road if not written and signed, and possibly recorded) - While the retirement savings plan seems attractive at 150% match up to 15%, it is much less valuable when considering it is solely CNRL stock, and the vesting scheme will always leave you behind.
