    Pros

    Congenial and smart coworkers.
Regular hours with majority of staff working 9-5.
    Good company benefits
    Performance based rewards system
    Good work environment

    Cons

Subsidiary of foreign owned corporation with parent company employees at senior and staff level positions.
Expatriate employees reviewed, managed and rewarded differently from US employees.
    Limited growth opportunities
    Average compensation
Rigid HR policies and no flexibility for work life balance

    Advice to Management

Need to find a strategic vision that works and provides for a future for the company beyond existing products that are in decline.
Reward and value all staff. Respect the company principles and have flexibility when dealing with staff work hours and other life balance issues.

I have been working at Canon USA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Not much....in my department at least

    Cons

Lack of advancement opportunity is the big one for me. It's essentially non-existent. Yearly reviews say you are a "great employee" by get a minimal yearly increase, and no career progress development. Upper management just seems out of touch with the industry and continues to fail to change. Several people around my area have recently left the company and there has been NO reason to think they will get replaced (never a good sign). There have been several failed product launches as well as failed marketing efforts (or simply non-existent ones) and when you're involved in several "declining" industries, this is not a good thing.

    Advice to Management

Canon needs to change it's way of business on several fronts. Better people management and better/smarter business decisions needs to happen quickly...if it doesn't, you'll be hearing about lay offs quicker than you'd want to.

I have been working at Canon USA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice 401K match and profit sharing, benefits, nice campus

    Cons

Strict Japanese culture. Slow to promote (if ever). New program "Every minute Counts", meaning everyone must be at their workstation at 9 am. No flexibility (no tele-flex, alternative schedule, work from home etc,.,). Strong favoritism ( if you are a favorite, then promotions and some flexibility is yours... if you are not, you are treated like the ugly red headed step child) If complaints are made to HR you soon realize that they back the division not the employee. You will never feel safe. No one has your back

    Advice to Management

Take a look at the companies around you. Provide some flexibility and 360 manager review.
