      CRA Remains Caring Despite COVID

26 Oct 2020 - Consultant in Boston, MA

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Intellectual atmosphere, collegial rapport, competitive pay, reasonable hours (for consulting), substantial communications from corporate, excellent professional development opportunities, extensive training resources, appreciative managers.

      Cons

Inconsistent week-to-week workflow, hours are still sufficiently long (but reasonable for the industry, and you get to choose your workload to some degree), self-directed project assignment.

      Exceeding expectations so far

25 May 2021 - Vice President in New York, NY
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Teams are passionate about their practices and very active delivering on-the-ground work - Firm development is about fundamentals and good practices, as opposed to taking whatever comes up - Strong support across the organization - within and between Practices and Offices, and from very capable Corporate functions

      Cons

      - Ramp-up in using corporate support systems for hours, expenses, etc is steep and tools are specific - While remote onboarding has exceeded expectations, still looking forward to meeting entire team in person

Great place to start a career

      1 Jun 2021 - Senior Associate

      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great work/life balance *compared to other consulting firms*

      Cons

Promotion review cycle is way too infrequent. Promotions are based on meritocracy which is great, but should happen much more frequently rather than waiting a year for the next cycle.

      Great Post-College Job

13 Apr 2021 - Consulting Associate in Boston, MA
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Wide variety of projects and cases; ability to work on multiple cases at a time to expand learning opportunities over a short period of time; really smart managers and colleagues; modern office space; great benefits

      Cons

Managers come from mostly academic background (PhDs), so some may need more training on how to effectively manage teams and deadlines; pay differs a lot depending on the practice area even if you have the same title and workload; promotions are mostly based on how many years you have been with the firm so there is no incentive to work harder for them

      Pros

Great Co-Workers, good pay, relatively interesting work, good office/company culture

      Cons

Work is sometimes irregular, 20 hours working one week, 60 the next. This hasn't happened too much, but it does happen.
