I have been working at City of Edmonton full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The job is stable and not really affected by economic down turns.

    Cons

Management is in chaos and doesn't know how to fix it.

I worked at City of Edmonton full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - 37.5 hour work weeks and earned days off - the corporation is large enough that you'll inevitably find some people who are a joy to work with

    Cons

    - sometimes the public just wants to yell at you - just because some people may be a joy to work with, doesn't mean that those people are your immediate coworkers or supervisors - management seem to hire people who think like them or come from a particular school - management seem to be mostly concerned with protecting their own images and securing promotions

I worked at City of Edmonton part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Part-time workers were very helpful in helping other part-time workers to find work outside the City of Edmonton to survive the low pay, and seasonal working time offered at the City of Edmonton.

    Cons

Should never take a part time job at the CIty of Edmonton and hope that it will transpire into a full time job. Part workers wanting full time work needs to have an "in" to advance. Otherwise, it is no go. This is something that supervisors will not tell you to your face. Pi

I have been working at City of Edmonton

    Pros

working for the city is great because it is fast pace, there is always something new going on. Especially in the current planning branch. My job is also very stable and for that I am grateful.

    Cons

One of the hard parts is that lots of citizens look down on city employees. It's hard to get through to them that we are here to help and doing the best we can.
