    Pros

Schooling in Chicago was invaluable. You learn so much in such a short amount of time. It doesn’t translate well to the field, you have to tweak it some and make the sales pitch your own. I loved this job the first 3 months I excelled and made top sales person in the district(5 states) a few times and always exceeded sales goals until my manager left and I had no one to ask questions or get advice or training from.

    Cons

My district manager left a team of 8 and we were left with only a market director as someone to report to. We no longer had meetings or training or support. Was lied to and told there was a guaranteed base pay the first few months, there wasn’t. They will tell you anything to bring you on because they have to meet recruiting quotas.

    Advice to Management

Stop lying to people. If you have to lie and say that this job is something that it’s not, that’s a red flag already.

    Pros

Good training, if you decide to make insurance a career

    Cons

Lousy pay, lousy business model, extremely high turnover, job is worth taking only for the licensing. Once you've passed state exam, go work for a more stable and profitable company. You'll never make what they claim you will, you'll probably never make any decent income due to their chargeback policy and full commission (no hourly or salary) methodof payroll, and there are no benefits.

    Advice to Management

Get with the times. Door-to-door sales is a dead business model and nobody can survive on a full commission job with chargebacks.

    Pros

    Cons

Commissioned and managers don't train you. I had a female manager in Newburgh who was always late and very unprofessional. All the policies that we wrote cancelled and I was charged back all the commissions. Combined lied to me about the pay. I worked 12 hour days and mad no money.

I have been working at Combined Insurance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Sales school, free food at meetings

    Cons

Working 50+ hours a week for two months straight and not getting paid with absolutely no support from management.

No other agents in my area so I can't even ride with someone for moral support. Completely on my own and lost.

My boss has been gone for over a month. I don't know where or why.

    Advice to Management

We need stronger managers, even in remote area. We will never expand into rural areas if there is only one (struggling) agent getting no support or training.

I have been working at Combined Insurance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I joined Combined Insurance after working as a waitress for five years and then working at UPS for 6 months. I consider this career a blessing when I otherwise would be struggling significantly. To put it lightly there is a LOT to learn before feeling comfortable with the position, sales aren’t for everyone! The turnover rate is high because many people aren’t driven enough to struggle before becoming great. I learn so much at the monthly meetings from all of the successful agents, and even the most successful still have concepts to learn. They truly reward you for every single thing you do and if you end up becoming a great agent you can win tons of trips and awesome stuff Combined Insurance is a promising company with a strong client/agent relationship and fantastic products. I will say that some agents do not perform ethically and to be cautious finding one that truly cares about you and most importantly your bank account (they are out there!). Our $17.33/month accident policy is, in my opinion, an essential for everyone. Adding sickness is fantastic, our cancer products are affordable and I have seen them save lives and I always urge clients to look into our amazing life insurance products. Overall the best products in the business of paying cash directly to you, great opportinity for building a lifelong career if you’re willing to struggle and learn and you are truly recognized for everything you do.

    Cons

Do not join this company if you aren’t willing to struggle before being truly successful. You have all the tools and have to be willing and have the drive to use them!
