Pros
The systems in place with this company are by far the best in the business. Being in the Syracuse area it has been a pleasure to be able to locally work for a company of this caliper. I've worked for other Insurance companies and have interview with almost every one in Central Ny and this company stood out the most. The compensation is well above all others but most importantly the stability of income is what stands out the most. It's a w2 position on all levels with 401k matching and full benefits that are industry leading. The growth and opportunity with this company including Syracuse is spectacular and promotion is based on your proformance not seniority. This is a great place to start a career in Insurance and for individuals who are already in the industry to be successful.
Cons
I wish I had started with combined years ago. Networking is key in management

Pros
There are many pros about this company. The sales training is very good. All of the management wants you to succeed. The incentives to make sales come with really good bonuses and even trips. The benefits are very good and the products are the best I have ever been introduced to.
Cons
It's sales so if you don't write policies, you don't get paid. If a policy is written and the client suddenly cancels the policy, it gets charged back to you.

Pros
6 month new agent subsidy makes it a good 'short term' opportunity. Employee position so you have taxes deducted and access to 'expensive' health insurance benefits.
Cons
Unprofessional distribution system cold calling! Don't let them try to tell you differently! Unethical business practices! Very expensive health insurance benefits! Very little support from management after your 2 week training in Chicago and 2 week in-field training (That is normally NOT followed). Products are NOT priced competitively AND their underwriting is WAY TOO RESTRICTIVE for their pricing! They put WAY TOO MUCH money into their high level managers and NOT NEARLY ENOUGH into their agents and territory managers. They also provide MUCH more recognition to high level managers, rather than to the agents and territory managers, that are responsible for their success in their high level management roles!!!! They hire anyone, so if you NEED a job while looking for a career, go take their money for several months. DO NOT expect it to be a career opportunity!!!!!

Pros
Excellent training process to prepare the new or experienced agent/manager to be successful in the Combined Insurance business. They will help you identify and focus on your Personal, Family and Business goals. Even though you are an insurance agent you are an employee with a benefit package and 401K.
Cons
Takes a lot of self-discipline.

Thank you for taking the time to review our company. As a retired Director of Training, you deserve many thanks for all you did to help make our sales training and onboarding process among the best in the industry. Our sales agents have an unlimited income potential and a comprehensive compensation package, including a 401k retirement savings plan and a stock discount plan. We agree that since sales can be both a challenging and a rewarding career, people who have a lot of self-discipline are the most successful. Thank you again for your work here at Combined Insurance, and we wish you a happy retirement.

Pros
For voluntary benefits provider this company invests in their employee, yes that's EMPLOYEE as you are NOT 1099 with Combined. They have paid training and actually carry an employee benefit program for their sales people. They also have a descent product line up and are competitive.
Cons
Management does NOT listen to the field! They do not care to know input as to what could make things better with the company - sad. They also have antiquated systems which seems to put added obstacles in the way to putting the business on the books - which ultimately impacts your income since after the paid training you are pretty much commission only.

Pros
All materials provided. Good training. Flexible Schedule. Bonus System.
Cons
Unpaid training - two weeks long - if in NY/ NJ or New England, you will go to the location in Schenectady, NY and stay there for a full two weeks. They provide place to stay and pay mileage if you drive, airfare if you fly. No food expenses, you are on your own for all your food, which can add up after two weeks. Commission based salary. Door-to-door sales. Hard sale tactics No benefits for 6 months and that is only if you hit a sales number. Must pay out of pocket ALL business related expenses - phone, fuel, printing, etc. Claims issues from previous and current customers. Leads provided are for current and former customers who complain about being visited too often and pushed way too hard by lots of different sales reps for Combined. Unknown in public sector - no advertising whatsoever. Uses word of mouth and door-to-door sales to advertise. High cancellation rate of policies. HUGE turnover rate - told by my marketing director that sales agent turnover is 150% and territory manager is 100% - each per year. Scary stat.

Pros
Great Company with comprehensive benefit package along with all time record income year quarter after quarter. The trips we offer to qualifying personnel are 5 star and second to none. I have enjoyed Cancun, Mexico , Costa Rica, and now onto Panama all on the company's dime. Helping others on top of all the perks, is very fulfilling and really makes this career full circle when it comes to working for such a large company.
Cons
If your not willing to give it 110% this isn't the career for you. Hardwork forever pays. Reaching your goals sometimes take you past the regular 9-5 position. I'm a hardworking person so not really any cons.
