I worked at Corrective Services NSW full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great colleagues and forming long-term relationships.
Excellent wages for what you do.
Different departments to move into (not just work in the gaol)

    Cons

A very challenging job at times.
You need resilience and common sense, otherwise, you probably won't like the job.
The job is as hard as you make it!

    Advice to Management

Good and bad in all aspects.

I have been working at Corrective Services NSW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The pay is very good

    Cons

Discrimination against people with a disability
    Bullying is rife
Unit leaders with no people skills
A culture where staff are encouraged to run to management over every single issue.

    Advice to Management

The workplace culture needs to be addressed big time. There are staff who need to be removed, they have been there too long.

I have been working at Corrective Services NSW full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great colleagues, work is interesting, lots of flexibility with hours due to flexi time. Lovely friendly people, Make lots of life long friends.

    Cons

Not much in the way of perks. Have to buy your own coffee, tea, pay for all your own Christmas parties, etc. Not a great deal of recognition. Not a huge amount of room to move up the ladder, although that depends on what part of the Service you work in.

    Advice to Management

A little more recognition for work well done, maybe some development days would be nice. Some consistency in the way certain parts of the service are run would help CSNSW become more efficient and far more user friendly for our customers and/or other agencies we need to deal with.
