I have been working at Cotton On for less than a year

    Pros

You get to meet and work with lovely people, the staff discount is great

    Cons

Atop heavily focussed on KPIs, often have to endure some form of bullying from upper management when expectations aren’t met. Higher ups can be very cliquey and gossip about other employees. Awful lot of plastic waste in packaging. Management turnover was high. Sometimes given massive tasks that would be impossible to finish on time, many would staff back unpaid off the clock to complete them.

    Cons

I have been working at Cotton On for more than a year

    Pros

50% discount across all 7 brands Some co-workers become family Flexible hours

    Cons

Micromanaging. Just becoming another big company that values profit over employee wellbeing. They hire anyone to be manager- little to no training on how to be a good leader. Never live up to their own values - constantly hiring externally when hardworking employees are begging for more training and development opportunities. “People first” is a lie. Gossiping and cliquey environment in a Mega space. Extreme pressure to perform by upper management who have no idea what it is like on the shop floor. Lack of diversity in upper management. Unrealistic budgets and KPIs when understaffed. Constant VM changes.

I worked at Cotton On full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Retail store level staff are fantastic 50% staff discount Decent working hours

    Cons

Tough to advance. They say they will train and help you but never actually come through. Upper management/ state team only care about the stores that beat budget (flagship) and rarely visit stores that need actual help.

I have been working at Cotton On part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great first sales job Good training programs and incentives Employee discount Internal confidential hotline

    Cons

Some stores are great, some are VERY cliquey- rude to other employees and customers Upper management and head office are completely hit or miss- keep in mind there are people within the company whose job it is to protect the company at the expense of the employees

I have been working at Cotton On full-time for more than a year

    Pros

50% discount on clothing but it’s all really bad quality anyway so it’s barely worth it

    Cons

Upper management set absolutely unrealistic expectations and when you actually meet them they accuse you of cheating and treat you like crap. Never are you rewarded for all your hard work and yet they continue to expect everything from you. You are expected to complete all tasks with zero hours for staff to help you. They put you on a salary which forces you to get paid the bare minimum and never get paid overtime but to finish tasks you need to put in your own time to actually complete them. You are treated like a piece of crap on their shoe and you are 100% expendable. Don’t bother giving this company any of your time because they won’t appreciate it in any way.

I have been working at Cotton On for more than a year

    Pros

Decent career progression Good hours (even if your store doesn't have enough hours, you can definitely ask to cover at other stores across all COG brands) Great support system (they have a confidential hotline for reporting any issues in the workplace as well as a free mental health hotline)

    Cons

Sometimes upper management can be out of touch with retail stores, resulting in unrealistic expectations and time and effort wasted in store Not all processes are followed when it comes to reporting things particularly to loss prevention (outcomes can be arbitrary)
