    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Coty full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

401k, summer fridays, great brands, staff shop, dynamic, positive, diverse and open environment compared to most beauty companies. Overall the people are genuine and collaborative. They even sent us hand sanitizer to our home during lock down! The Bullying CMO and her cronies gone has been a big step forward last year.

    Cons

Brands under funded, unrealistic expectations with resources available, Vacancies not filled, Amsterdam move disaster, company takes on too much at once and this holds it back. Hope it will change under another new CEO.

I have been working at Coty full-time

    Pros

Amazing benefits (wfh, summer fridays, vacation from Christmas to new years). You are able to make a considerable impact and bring new ideas to the table.

    Cons

The company changes visions/approaches constantly which drives a lot of noise and you have to restart certain processes/projects from scratch driving some level of rework. Given change usually drives negativity and discomfort, you'll hear a lot of complaints (without wanting to discuss solutions) from many individuals.

I worked at Coty full-time for less than a year

    Pros

7 Summer Fridays, some truly great talent throughout

    Cons

Quite literally the most abusive senior management I've ever had the misfortune of encountering in my entire career. I thought the Devil Wears Prada was a work of fiction. It's real here. Coty is truly a mean girls club. I witnessed incessant bullying that bordered on (and at times was) outright abuse. Leading by fear is the norm. I was encouraged to do so as well. I left after a short while because I couldn't in good conscious stay here. The money wasn't worth my dignity. Coty isn't worthy of the many talented people here.

    Pros

    Flexible schedule and summer fridays.

    Cons

Please note that HR has been asking people to leave positive reviews when they quit because there are so many bad ones. Please also note that because the environment is so bad, on the first/second week of employment, HR has had discussions with employees on their first impressions and asked for advice on how to fix problems. - Very junior digital/marketing team who are not being mentored - People who don't understand social/marketing/creative in very senior roles - Uninspired employees who don't care about making the work better - Very entitled employees who lack self awareness of skill sets - Very afraid to try new tactics and are stuck in old ways of doing things - Lack of awareness of what the brand is and very little understanding of what cutting edge brands are doing - Completely behind when it comes to digital/social marketing trends - there's no awareness or understanding of different platform products and paid media - There is NO strategy or an understanding of what strategy is - There are little-to-no briefs and the ones you'll receive have no useful information other than a mood board someone put together - Constant redirection of campaigns after work is complete because no one knows what they want - HIGH turnover - people quit left and right - Very toxic environment. - Very disgruntled, unhappy employees who openly discuss how they hate their jobs - Constant gas lighting - No room for growth or mentorship - Disorganized HR

I worked at Coty full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Summer Fridays Good office location (connected to the Path) Some very hardworking, dedicated employees General Manager leads by example

    Cons

HR is non-existent. Employee retention is terrible and the company is too cheap to offer the right salaries to attract actual talent. Zero work-life balance; employees are forced to take on more and more work as "development opportunities", without any real chance to get promoted or even a higher bonus or raise. Senior management is petty, narrow-minded, and short-sighted, always making poor decisions for short-term gain and then acting surprised when they don't pan out. The General Manager is great, but completely hobbled by his senior management's ineptitude. Infighting, politics, and finger-pointing are the norm, with zero accountability.

I worked at Coty full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Paid time off. Summer Fridays/Christmas to New Years, 401 K matching @ 6%

    Cons

Inflated sense of ego, desire to take over the world with no plan (accept talking points thought up by executives that are out of touch with current changes in the beauty industry), upper management constantly looking to cover their own special interest, middle management that is left to fend for themselves with lack of training and direction, middle management that has been promoted based on their skills at the lower level not by their people management skills, unrealistic goal setting. This toxic work culture will have you scrambling to figure out how to become part of the in-crowd to get where you want to go. It is the ultimate breeding ground for mean girl status. The amazing talent that exists is overlooked and it is hemorrhaging at the seems. Upper management often takes credit for ideas that were not their own or takes too long to implement suggestions. Systems an processes are a complete mess. You will find yourself taking hours to complete a simple task. When you find a way to simplify, you'll get a slap on the wrist. There is a massive lack of communication between organizations. No onboarding process. Low salaries, unequal pay.

I worked at Coty full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

friendly environment, Summer Fridays, Happy hour, Friendly people, casual dress code, food every now and then

    Cons

This is not a place to build a career. Favoritism, promotions handed to same group of people. you are getting paid no where close to the market, if you work here please check same position in companies near by. Management is clueless. Foreigners being brought in on transfer Visa and giving management position to save money, no special skills required. I highly discourage professionals to apply here as the turnover is crazy. We had over 10 employees leave within the past few months and many more to come. They have no consideration to their employee needs to talent retention and then wonder why the company is suffering. HR will reply to this review asking to address my concerns with HR and Managers but unfortunately after we did a feedback focus group, nothing changed and pay is still poor. The increases don't cover cost of living and a lot of people can barely afford rent on that salary.
