I worked at Country Road Group

    Pros

    - my direct manager was fun, funny, caring, and hard- working - its because of her that I mainly kept staying on. - the store people were interesting and friendly - felt good to be apart of the brand that had that luxary feel to it esp since I was working in a city store - I loved doing online orders - its very task related and always has u on ur feet with something to do - I like to work so this worked well for me - product training is there even if i had to ask for it - its also quite concise

    Cons

    - the discount is bad - this is a brand that has very expensive clothes - after the discount u still need to use ur own pay if u wish to purchase enough clothes for a full week - the pay is terrible esp if ur a part time - full timer and not in management - not enough perks for an employee to want to become a full-timer - unless they are doing it to become promoted - the amount of work vs time vs pay is really bad - my fit bit was counting around 40,000 to 60,000 steps a day - I was working myself so much until one day I collapsed in the work place: that is I had vertigo that left me on the ground with my head on a stool and I vomited (because someone gave me a bag because they didn't want me to vomit near them) - no1 really cared - no1 dared report it - no1 even bothered to ask me if I needed a glass of water - I had to dispose of my own bag of vomit because they were all too worried over the smell of it - i was scared i would pass out when i walked myself to the bus stop by myself and then i had to call a family member who by chance was free to pick me up- everyone that was in the room with me knew i felt like i was going to pass out but they just didn't care- it took me 3 months to get myself back to my previous awesome state of health after I quit that toxic environment and no i didn't go for compo - I'm so happy i managed to heal my body even though throughout that time i was scared i would spend the rest of my life waking up every day and feeling vertigo, mentally confused and weak and out of breath and tired drained feeling. . - management will cut the roster again and again without a care for their dedicated employees - this was not in my direct managers control - in the particular location where I worked - it was located off site from the store down two flights of stairs inside a car park - try breathing that kind of air 8 to 10 hrs a day and the floor was slanted and this room was NEVER cleaned - OHS never went down there to check it out - I don't believe this can be legal - also because this room had no windows - sometimes u would just feel depressed - when i was left all by myself I would sometimes be working away and crying because that room would just make u feel miserable - I was constantly stressed, and as if I was competing for hours when I was a casual - to see ur roster cut but be told because of the budget but if u said u were going they would be really sad about because they thought highly of ur work performance- its kinda a psychological let down - also when u are a storeroom person - its really hard to move up and out of the "ur just a storeroom person" viewpoint - I tried to get out of it but it didn't work out - the people in the company are just so judging - the people in the higher management are completely out of touch with the market and trends and most importantly price targets - they would sell clothes that had fabric or styles that were obviously not made for the particular season we were in - it made no sense eg: rather long polyester dresses in summer! polyester is a heat trap - its not comfortable for summer - also its not a logical thing to do.

I worked at Country Road Group part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some of my coworkers were absolutely awesome. There's the potential for good exposure to the fashion industry through 'roadshows', especially if you are in a management position. Also the discounts don't hurt. My wardrobe never looked so good!

    Cons

Ultimately, the cons eventually outweighed the pros for me. Higher management can be obsessive when it comes to achieving sales targets, to the point of alienating the team and pitting employees against each other, rather than encouraging teamwork. It made the work environment tense and unpleasant.

I worked at Country Road Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great staff perks and discounts and working with amazing product

    Cons

An extremely gossipy environment. Higher management cares about nothing but making money. They put unrealistic expectations on their managers and teams and create an environment where anyone higher than a manager is intimidating and couldn’t care less about their employees. When they need to they play by the rules and follow HR protocol but only so they don’t land themselves in court rather than actually caring.
