Pros

The people at Crossbeam were all very conscientious, were very good at what they did, and worked together as teams. There was opportunity to grow there when I first started. They have a very interesting, technically complex product.

Cons

Business model that depends on independent software vendors IP is a non-starter. Company cannot grow as currently configured, and growth opportunities disappeared for employees. Investor buyout has triggered severe austerity measures, including downsizing by >25%; company stock options vaporized as part of buyout.

Pros

Working in the city is beautiful.

Cons

Working with a manager who bases your performance on whether she likes or dislikes you makes it difficult to work. Throughout the duration of my employment I was directed to complete tasks that were assigned to another employee (a superior) and the manager was told by my superior that I was not completing my own tasks (because I was being assigned things he was told to handle).
