I have been working at DT for more than a year

    Pros

    - Good range of projects - Ambitious vision - Discipline leads are very capable and have good experience

    Cons

    - Management sets conflicting goals for different departments like Accounts, Project Management, and Creatives. This results in either friction or people shying away from doing their job properly. - Promises galore for everyone at the start (including growth opps etc.) when they want to hire you. Saw a lot of people leave over time due to unfulfilled promises - Maintaining the pipeline is a constant struggle for the company and people frequently get pulled from projects resulting in time overruns for clients and disgruntled employees due to long hours - Frequent blow out to client budgets with no regards to duty of care as an agency. - Unable to retain good talent. Generally, they leave in about an year. - Some of the Senior Managers (a select few) have big egos, very low talent and a loud mouth. Maybe someone needs to tell them Don Draper is not real.

I have been working at DT full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Everyone who works here is striving for the same goal. I've never worked anywhere with such a great team spirit and the feeling that we're all in this together. I work with a great bunch of people it makes me feel excited to get up and come to work every day. It is by far the best agency I've ever worked out of all the agencies in Melbourne, Sydney or London.

    Cons

Location doesn't have many good options for lunch.

    I worked at DT full-time

    Pros

    - Surrounded by smart and capable people. - Overall a very friendly atmosphere. - High-profile clients and some interesting work going around. - Respected name to have on your resume. - Good, cheap coffee from in-house barista.

    Cons

    - Good clients with smaller budgets are ignored, bad clients with larger budgets rule the roost. - You may never touch the interesting work that goes on. - Lack of mentorship across some disciplines (although others are quite good). - High staff turnover on some teams. - New staff are thrown in the deep end, to the detriment of everyone. - Frequent restructuring and inconsequential title changes. - Unhealthy egos/attitudes often go unchecked. - Strained relationship with sister company Ogilvy. - Pay is slightly above average for ad agencies, but well below average for technology. - Work/life balance can vary wildly from team to team.

I have been working at DT full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I work with passionate people with great talent. I attribute that to the work-life balance and work culture as well as the huge effort that is put into your career progression. I have faith in the direction DT is going.

    Cons

Office location outside of CBD can seem rather removed.

I have been working at DT full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Working on big complex projects for the largest brands in Australia, lot's of really smart & genuine people without the agency attitude/complex. Generally casual culture and vibe in the office in a great location in South Melbournre. Internal promotion opportunities are quite high (if you can handle the pressure), and encouragement of knowledge transfer and internal training attitudes are also really good. Strong business development of late has seen a major upswing in Melbourne, with 2016 set for a very strong start. Extremely strong roster of major retail brands (K-mart, Bunnings, Officeworks etc) if that's your thing. DT is an excellent place to grow at all levels, it really opens doors to other opportunities in the industry. You can expect lots of linkedin interest from recruiters due to it's reputation.

    Cons

Unrealistic pressure from STW parent group and long term co-location for some team members has been a highly destructive force really eating away at what was a very strong company culture. Extremely high turnover from people quitting or being poached by clients in the last 12 months has been the result. Staff often left to sink or swim, often because people leaving are not replaced so this results in additional responsibilities stacking up. Morale has been a real issue, though this is getting much better. DT as a digital agency at 20 years old has a cultural & identity problem internally & externally – meaning a lot of re-structuring and title changes but very little actual changes. Work life balance can be a real challenge with constant pitching. Pay is not in line with the tech industry which is an issue, because DT is really less of an agency and more of a product & platform development company, but is still better than the ad industry locally.
