I have been working at Daimler Trucks North America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Great Work/Life Balance -Spectacular 401(k) match and non elective contributions ($0.75 of every dollar match up to 8% of base salary also a non-elective company contribution as well: under 40 is an additional 3%, under 50 is 5% and over is 7%. Therefore if an employee makes the 8% 401(k) contribution the company will match 9%, 11% or 13% depending on age.) -Mercedes-Benz lease program (if played correctly: zero down,...

I worked at Daimler Trucks North America full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I worked in the offices directly above the truck plant, so we always had plenty to do. Very welcoming environment, and the people are great. They really want you to do well, and offer plenty of help (as long as they aren't swamped). I loved pretty much everything. Great experience juggling projects and such.

    Cons

Hard to apply for jobs because interns have to wait for them to go external first. Besides that, just recognize that as an intern you are technically the lowest priority, even though they don't make you feel like that. Also, projects are totally random, just depends on what the plant needs most at that time, so speak up and fight for projects you want but always be flexible.

    Advice to Management

I loved my boss (Lamar Jenkins). He was probably the best part of the whole internship. He really cares about his workers. He'll probably retire soon though, so whoever replaces him has big shoes to fill.

I have been working at Daimler Trucks North America full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Benefits, career growth opportunities, culture changes improving

    Cons

Company Processes can limit progress, diversity in executive leadership is limited.

    Advice to Management

Empathy is important- employees do not have same life style or standard of living as executives- remember that when making decisions that impact employees.

I have been working at Daimler Trucks North America full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Very dependent on where you work with the Daimler world

      Cons

If you work in the wrong area your life will be HELL.

      Advice to Management

where do I begin.... Daimler had the first LEED Platinum building, yet; down the street the managment didn't want to spend 6K on fixing equipment. So they spend 100,000K in extra on their water bill in 3 months. That is a waste of over 1 million gallons. The culture doesn't extend outside the building. Don't go unless you have a guide to the work locations to avoid.

I have been working at Daimler Trucks North America full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

      the benefits are quite nice....

      Cons

They promote that they are a safety culture... They have the signs, they have the pamphlets. What they don't have is the culture. Daimler is a very production quota based culture. specific example: They have a forklift that pulls around its trucks. They didn't want to buy the correct size so they purchased one that only is weight rated for 1/2 the truck it is lifting because they are only lifting the rear end of the...

Get Real Safety people. The "culture" is not there because everyone things they are smarter than OHSA.

I have been working at Daimler Trucks North America full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Good vacation policy - 4 weeks awarded from day 1.

      Cons

Deeply hierarchical culture, definite glass ceiling for women and non-Germans, bogged down by process. Decisions take forever to be implemented, even after the long torturous process of arriving at that decision

      Advice to Management

stop implementing policies that drive away talent

You put in your application with Aerotek and start working for this company making only $10/hr. trying to get hired on with Freightliner permanently to make a living for you and your family. Work for them 6 days a week and 10 hour days then when it comes time to hire employees 10 months later THEY HIRE INDIVIDUALS FROM THE OUTSIDE BEFORE THE AEROTEK EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE BEEN THERE 10+ MONTHS!?!? Advice to Management

Human Resource Department is breaking S.C. Labor Laws by HIRING assemblers DIRECTLY and INDIRECTLY via AEROTEK (you can’t do both) but y’all already know that. . . If you don’t plan on hiring the individuals LET THEM GO WITHIN THEIR 90 DAYS...THAT’S WHY THEY WORK FOR A TEMP SERVICE. If you would go up on your hourly pay you would get better qualified and quality people instead of QUANTITY to work there. What individual...
