I have been working at Daimler Trucks North America full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I really liked working for Daimler the pay is good, benefits are good

    Cons

Job can be physically challenging depending on which job you are assigned. Usually you're are required to do a 2 persons job alone. They lay off every 1 to 2 years. I really hate this last lay off was done sloppy. There were no TAA benefits or severance pay for this layoff like they did for the last layoff

I have been working at Daimler Trucks North America full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Lots of opportunity for overseas transfers with Daimler AG parent company and international experience. Good benefits with 6% 401K match up to 8%. Overall Company growth and performance.

    Cons

Stagnant wages, 3% every year with little opportunity for larger increases (need promotion, not lateral job moves). Poor Project Management, generally.

I worked at Daimler Trucks North America full-time

    Pros

Good people, good benefits, good atmosphere in general.

    Cons

Stiff corporate culture basing too much on college degrees - I know a person with 20+ years experience with the company who did not get promoted to a position in the department *they* founded. It was given to a 22 year old recent graduate for no other reason than they had a degree.

I have been working at Daimler Trucks North America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

This company offers good benefits when it comes to insurance, retirement plan and additional perks like the Merc Benz car lease program. The Fort Mill, SC location is good and it is a physically safe place to work.

    Cons

    1. The management. The company structure is very hierarchical and very often you would see managers, Directors not intermingling with junior employees. A typical day is one where the employees are slogging to get their job done while managers are busy staring at their inbox or at their desktop. It's not a company of working managers. Honestly, the Ft. Mill office could save a lot of $ by eliminating most managers and the company could still do well. A common site in the Aftermarket group in Fort Mill is managers going on a power trip during meetings & team huddles. 2. Racism. This is both direct and indirect. Promotions go to primarily white employees who don't necessarily do their best while over achieving minorities stay where they are. The recent Presidential election had made a bunch of managers quite vocal about their overt and insensitive feelings towards foreign nationals. In certain situations even threats of being fired or having to be kicked out of the country have been directed towards foreign nationals.

I have been working at Daimler Trucks North America for more than a year

    Pros

Culture is good, benefits are good. Good about vacation and time off. A lot of places to move in the company.

    Cons

Hard to get hired full time for contractors, there's some clannishness. Swan island is far away from a lot of housing.
