I have been working at Daimler Trucks North America full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Lots of opportunity for overseas transfers with Daimler AG parent company and international experience. Good benefits with 6% 401K match up to 8%. Overall Company growth and performance.

    Cons

Stagnant wages, 3% every year with little opportunity for larger increases (need promotion, not lateral job moves). Poor Project Management, generally.

    Advice to Management

Drive continuous improvement, even in times of good profitability. Pay attention to the balance of employees vs. opportunity and/ or level of effort required. Utilize KPIs to steer processes and activities, not as "rubber stamp" of performance (use meaningful KPIs where improvement is required, not KPIs measuring successes for general management approval that do not tell you anything about how the business is actually...

I worked at Daimler Trucks North America full-time

    Pros

Good people, good benefits, good atmosphere in general.

    Cons

Stiff corporate culture basing too much on college degrees - I know a person with 20+ years experience with the company who did not get promoted to a position in the department *they* founded. It was given to a 22 year old recent graduate for no other reason than they had a degree.

    Advice to Management

    Loosen up.

I have been working at Daimler Trucks North America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

This company offers good benefits when it comes to insurance, retirement plan and additional perks like the Merc Benz car lease program. The Fort Mill, SC location is good and it is a physically safe place to work.

    Cons

    1. The management. The company structure is very hierarchical and very often you would see managers, Directors not intermingling with junior employees. A typical day is one where the employees are slogging to get their job done while managers are busy staring at their inbox or at their desktop. It's not a company of working managers. Honestly, the Ft. Mill office could save a lot of $ by eliminating most managers and...

    Advice to Management

Understand that managers are the problem when it comes to getting things done. Employees want to be emplowered to do great things, not to be bossed around. Racism should have zero tolerance.

I worked at Daimler Trucks North America for less than a year

    Pros

Good benefits for FTE's, bike commuter friendly, decent cafeteria, nice new HQ, embraces work-from-home policies (varies from manager to manager).

    Cons

No accountability for mid-level management, lots of incompetent people, severe inequality between contractors and FTE's, poor management, they treat contractors as FTE's when it gains them and blame co-employment fears when convenient - which casues borderline abuse at times,

    Advice to Management

Get rid of deadweight even if they are real employees, Listen to the experts that you pay a lot of money for. Hold people accountable for actions and results.
