I worked at Daniels Health full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Awesome company culture, great social setting, fun place to work, good people and a fantastic business mission with a genuine passion for making healthcare safer.

    Cons

With any growing company, there are growing pains. Systems are slow to be implemented and the business could benefit from a stronger operations focus.

I have been working at Daniels Health full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Daniels has a superb product and excellent mission. Use of Daniels' sharps containers truly makes healthcare safer, and the minimal impact on the environment is a wonderful bonus. At the local level, those who stick around make a great team.

    Cons

Compensation does not correlate fairly with the demands and risks of the job, especially among drivers and plant staff. As such, we have a high degree of turnover (that is, if the positions get refilled at all), which creates ongoing challenges for everyone involved, both for employees and for our customers. (These challenges are things such as frequent mistakes that occur as part of the learning process with new staff, or not being able to service customers on time due to driver shortages, for example). While we struggle to keep positions filled at the plant level, it seems that miscellaneous/new positions and promotions are created and filled in a far more timely manner at the corporate level. Employees in the plant, who directly impact our customers, are absolutely necessary before certain positions at the support office level. (*Note: retention is NOT related to local plant management. We have a very supportive manager.) Communication is poor, and there is definitely a disconnect between the support office and the plants. To fully support your plant teams, it is necessary to understand the full cycle of our customer service process, which seems to be a missing piece for several who are supposed to support our operations from Chicago. Often, critical customer information is missing from service requests or sometimes there seems to be a lack of knowledge of what our products/services are like. I suppose it may be too abstract if not working hands-on with the containers. But, if so, then it would be highly beneficial to spend more time in a plant, more than just a one-time tour and brief overview. Honestly, I think dispersing support office staff among the various plant locations could have a huge positive impact by connecting those individuals to the direct operations. On the topic of the support office, the *perception* is that there is plenty of fun and games to be had, with extra holiday days off, and miscellaneous activities (for fun, bonding, team building, etc, I'm not sure). It seems unfair when your hardest working people - those who are directly handling the product and servicing customers - are continuing to work on holidays with no added perks. I think the support office means well, but the way those employees are taken care of and the way plant employees are taken care of is not at all in balance. In addition, I came into this position under the impression that there would be room for growth. At least at the plant level, such opportunities seem to be limited/nonexistent. As such, I do not see this as a job with much longevity. I regret to say that I could not, in sound conscience, recommend Daniels as a place of employment, unless you have the privilege of working at the corporate level.

Hi There, thank you so much for your detailed feedback and openly sharing your perspective. There are many reasons retention is challenging within our plants and not all can be solved overnight but we hope that over time you have seen a change to compensation and to the focus on retention, communication and engagement across the business from our Plants to the Support Office. Whilst we can empathize with a lot of what you are saying, we do strongly believe that the growing pains of running a national and global business have been captured over time and we do believe that we are working towards addressing these in a sustainable way. You make a number of suggestions re; engaging with the support office and enjoying team activities which we have taken on-board. We hope that your perception has since changed, however would welcome the opportunity to discuss it with you further, if not.

I have been working at Daniels Health full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people I work with at Daniels Health are incredible, the culture is fantastic and the company actually invests in me personally and my development from the CEO down. I get the opportunity to enhance my skills and grow professionally and I also get to enjoy working in a fun environment where I can play ping pong at lunch time. I love working for a company with a purpose and Daniels Health genuinely cares about making healthcare safer and protecting people and it's not hard to tell.

    Cons

As with any growing company there are always growing pains, no company is perfect but at least they're giving it their best effort and I can commend them on that.

Thank you, I am so encouraged by your feedback and the enthusiasm you have for our company, its culture and its vision. Working in the Chicago support office, we all play a vital role in the support of our sales and operational-staff and the service delivered to our customers, it's a pleasure to have people around me that truly believe in the value of what we do. I don't believe any company ever stops having growing pains, however what I have learned in 34 years of business is that the more passionate and skilled people we have around us, the stronger we are to build rather than be daunted. As a leadership team, we are absolutely committed to filling our hiring gaps, raising leaders and giving our people the opportunity to help shape the Daniels Health of tomorrow. Thank you for your commitment to our company and its vision. I wish you all the best in your continued growth with our company, I value your partnership. Yours, Dan Daniels
