I have been working at Danone North America full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very competitive pay for a manufacturing job Not too hard on the body (I'm a 130-lb female sensitive to hot and cold and I can manage the workload and environment just fine) Co-workers are great for the most part A decent amount of down time to get to know your co-workers or shadow other areas of the plant Decent benefits 12-hour shifts mean you work only 50% of the year and every other weekend is a long... weekend off

    Cons

You almost always start on nights and it's very hard to move to day shift (it takes close to 3 years on average in the processing department, though it's closer to 0-2 years in the other departments) You don't get to take product you make home and it's really even available in the break rooms Takes a long time to move up and very little recognition is given for going above and beyond, which encourages... laziness Have to work a long weekend every other weekend

I worked at Danone North America full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good pay, 6 months maternity leave, FTO, free yogurt & Evian water

    Cons

Do not apply here unless you are fully prepared to work on your sick days, or while you are on vacation because that is the expectation. ELT members get away with bullying/hazing. HR is unprofessional, & inefficient at handling these issues. VERY high turnover, likely as a direct result of all of this.

    Advice to Management

A clean sweep of ELT is very much needed here.

I have been working at Danone North America full-time

    Pros

Benefits (vacation, maternity) Solid pay Lots of opportunity for growth and advancement Very dedicated team of employees at all levels (operator up to VPs)

    Cons

Healthcare was average, then downgraded further after Whitewave buyout Bonuses at one time extremely good, also downgraded since Whitewave buyout

    Advice to Management

While buying Whitewave was a solid business move to add a fresh and growing portfolio of products, the integration hasn’t gone particularly smoothly. Somewhat concerned about the future of the company moving forward with the lack of teamwork, coupled with some of the cuts since the buyout.

I worked at Danone North America full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Average pay, Somewhat clean facility

    Cons

    - Feeling of constant stress, breakneck training period with little to no help. - Under a repeated barrage of insults and hazing by line operators and co workers. - Clear disregard by management for personal life and holidays. - Kicked under the bus by warehouse supervisor when asked for help in any situation. - Displayed contempt for union and any members, constantly going back on resolutions. - Always under... pressure. - No help from HR for conflict resolution. - Only get a few minuets for break, not enough to actually eat or enjoy your meal or relax. - Near constant fear of losing job, being told your on thin ice during probation period. - Every union member treats non members like trash.

    Advice to Management

Clean up the mess that is your 2nd shift warehouse, be aware of the cut throat atmosphere as well as the clique mentality. Actually give the job to the person who applied for it, not some trash disposal nonsense.

I have been working at Danone North America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The product lineup and purpose-driven mission. Nice to come into work every day knowing that the company is giving back to people and the environment. Amazing flexibility in terms of time off (unlimited), work from home options, etc. Benefits overall are excellent, particularly if you're single. Good 401k match, healthcare, and free yogurt & bottled water which is a nice perk. The new White Plains location is... state of the art. The CEO is great and cares about his people.

    Cons

Human Resources. They are unhelpful, unavailable, rude and ineffective which has a domino effect on the rest of the culture. The culture is going through a bit of a crisis and there doesn't seem to be any plan or budget in place for improving the employee experience. Many teams are noticeably understaffed with each individual working 12+ hours a day while other teams have 10-15 employees with the same job title who... show up once a week and leave at 3PM. Marketing is full of cliques and petty behavior with very high turnover due to management.

    Advice to Management

Get the company priorities in order. Stop letting expats come into the US and waste thousands upon thousands of the company's money on living expenses while the majority of the company experiences unfair budget constraints. Invest more in employee experience. Recruiters and managers need to put more stake into WHO they're hiring, not just what their experience is.

I worked at Danone North America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Diverse team of people, strong mission, FTO and 6 months parental leave.

    Cons

Acquisition of WhiteWave in 2017 was a complete disaster from a people standpoint. The Company lost its values and what made it such a special and great place to work at before. “People First” stopped being part of HR’s vocabulary almost immediately. Most influential positions in the new company were given to outsiders or Whitewavers who knew NOTHING about Danone s culture - while this was what made it successful in... the first place, and in a position to BUY Whitewave (not the other way around). Key talent was taken for granted and felt so poorly that most have left by now (or are actively looking to) in every function. Retention bonuses were granted to people without consistency and rather on a “you take care of me I ll take care of you” approach. Benefits have gone down significantly, bonus have become almost non existent which hurts Danoners who always accepted lower base salary because of strong bonus schemes. Now that all this is gone, Ex-WhiteWave employees still have their high base salaries while Danoners are loosing on all fronts.

    Advice to Management

Decide who you are as a company (not who you want to be .... if you wanted it bad enough you already would be by now) - share that with all your employees, and offer everyone a fair package to leave if they want. MANY will take it - but at least after that you can restart fresh and without continuing to disrespect or disappoint all those who joined you before the acquisition. Danone is no longer what it used to be -... so stop pretending and own your new values and the fact that money talks and people come last.
