I worked at Danone North America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Free Yogurt thats it !

    Cons

Was great prior to integration, WW destroyed culture. Top heavy management specifically HR with little vision and zero hands on skill. In summary this is what will happen 1. Loss of Talent - Post integration strong talent left or will continue due to unrealistic expectation from senior upper management specially in HR & Marketing 2. Existing management will promote useless remaining talent to justify... their pay and buy time until all integration business or system 3. Soldiers roles will continue to get burnt out resulting in high attrition 4. Integration will continue to be a mess. To to justify and probably the right thin to do, Central leadership will finally start firing leadership starting from HR 5. New Leadership (more expensive) will try to do patch work. Based on which CULTURE (very imp!) will either start to improved or continue to deteriorate for some time 6. By the time it improves product disruption will have taken place and Danone will be up for sale or severe cost cutting measures.

I worked at Danone North America full-time

    Pros

Good salary and excellent vacation allowance. However, this becomes an excuse for management to treat employees poorly while reminding them of how good they have it. Great maternity leave policy. Not so great for co-workers who are expected to fill the gaps. Can be a good place to advance if you're just out of college (and speak Spanish), but there are many better places to start a career.

    Cons

Where to start? A huge percentage of upper management is made up of foreign nationals who have been brought in from Danone offices across the world (often from Latin America or the Balearics). Many of these "leaders" appear to have no interest in developing their subordinates, and have a predetermined career path upon arrival that means that they are promoted into new roles regardless of performance. Outside of... that, most of the rest of the company is made of young professionals not long out of college. The very small number of 35-70 year old Americans in the building is almost entirely made up of workers with no realistic long term ambition beyond their current role. As a result, the atmosphere is fairly toxic. Everyone is expendable, and senior management circle the wagons to blame others for their own mistakes. HR is there to ensure that this situation remains the status quo. As most of senior management are native Spanish speakers, it is commonplace for Spanish to be used across the office If you're looking at an opportunity at this company, I'd advise you to run as fast as you can.

    Advice to Management

There are some good leaders at Dannon, but they are outweighed by a plethora of selfish and arrogant "bosses". My advise to them would be to stop putting up with the political situation in the company that allows so many terrible execs to continue to get away with bad behaviors. It's time someone called them out for it.

I worked at Danone North America full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The benefits are great! The PTO is very generous however management makes it almost impossible to use it. The tuition reimbursement program is great motivation to continue your education.

    Cons

I worked with the company for 12 years and held 4 different positions. They paid for 2 degrees including my masters degree, however I was passed up for a management position 3 times. I tried to improve the department moral and create teamwork but upper management seen my actions as "insubordination". I was labeled difficult when I tried to get the department to follow the company culture of being a great place to... work. I was told by management that I shouldn't work there anymore because I didn't "fit in". The office is filled with drama and lies that create a very hostile work environment. Unfortunately The department HR is in NY and doesn't pay attention to what really goes on in the TX office.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the operations of every department... Not just the areas that are directly in front of you.

I worked at Danone North America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Great benefits and time off policy - Decent starting salary - Fast pace environment, never boring - Great place to grow your skills - Nice office environment

    Cons

    - Upper management doesn't take time to understand the day to day details - Raises are a little low compared to experience at previous companies - Promotions aren't always given to employees that deserve it. Seems almost biased to men.

    Advice to Management

You don't have to be able to do the job of your entry level employees, but you should at least understand what they go through. It would go a long way to show respect. Actually listen to your employees, don't play on your phone or cut them off when they are talking.

I worked at Danone North America full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Generous vacation benefits (but not always easy to use). Free yogurt, all day and every day. Opportunity to work with very talented people (although many leave within one year) and learn a lot because projects move very quickly. A fast track promotion if you are a hard worker and politically aligned with the "in crowd." Entrepreneurial, if you want to take on new projects there’s lots of opportunities to do... so.

    Cons

A highly political environment, managers are quick to throw others under the bus and point fingers instead of proactively managing teams/projects and learning from new processes. Politics overshadows talent and promotions are often given individuals who are political and/or culturally more similar to upper management. Incredibly lean organization with long hours; there’s a complete lack of work-life balance.... Strategies are constantly shifting (no consistency) and resources are always constrained, leading to inefficient efforts on everyone’s part. Be prepared to work weekends and late nights to take care of last minute changes. Competition among within teams is encouraged to a level that is detrimental to the team. Much of middle management is very arrogant and egotistical and do no practice what they preach. Managers are more focused on self-promotion than team development and are quick to throw others under the bus. There’s a complete lack of professionalism among some Managers and Directors. CODE is a great philosophy but its skewed interpretation has led to a terribly negative culture in the White Plains office. If you are looking for good opportunities in FMCG/CPG - I would recommend looking outside of Dannon.

I have been working at Danone North America

    Pros

Great marketing support, solid brands with good equity, single category focus, strong product development, generous amount of PTO days, compensation and benefits.

    Cons

Upper management not integrating with all departments, the "open" office environment, very lean organization in terms of head count, limited support for the sales team which strongly inhibits growth, European style management that is unfamiliar on how to go-to-market in the U.S.

    Advice to Management

If you want an organization that empowers people to be open and honest, then the "leaders" of the organization need to facilitate that by setting the example with the non-upper management employees. If being CODE is truly a priority, it will need to be more than a feel good slogan. It needs to be something 100% of the company embraces.

    Pros

Great people, lots of learning opportunities. Good benefits. Fast paced environment.

    Cons

Upper management is not American. Appears if you want to move your way up at US Dannon, you need to come from another country .

    Advice to Management

Focus more on development and retention, too many people leave.

I worked at Danone North America full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Growing category, smart people, good pay.

    Cons

Politics supersede talent and common sense. Management will re-org everything at the drop of a hat -- i.e. your position / title no longer exists. Management also has unrealistic expectations of what you can do with an account from a growth perspective. Odd to say, but upper management is an international boys club.. and it seems like they have no plans to change that.

    Advice to Management

Spend some money with a consulting firm to get a recommendation on what your org layout should be -- don't just change it every year (or six months). Don't pick favorites, see talent, foster it, promote it. Understand overall market trends and set goals relative to that -- don't promise Danone HQ unattainable numbers..
