I have been working at Dealertrack full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great place to learn. Leadership and teams are highly experienced, friendly and always willing to teach and coach. It's a fast paced environment which encourages teamwork. Dealertrack lies at the intersection between consumers, dealers and lenders so we get the opportunity to work on projects which have a big impact in the automotive industry.

    Cons

Nothing that I have not experienced at other companies.

I have been working at Dealertrack full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The Leadership team is completely in touch with the business. They are industry experts with remarkable successes in the field. I have seen great changes since the recent management reform and the introduction of the PMO’s office to enhance processes, structure, governance and best practices for project management and execution across the organization. The QA team just developed an industry-standard AWS cloud complaint automation initiatives, great transformation in that business unit. There is also an in-house SAFe Agile consultant providing training to employees and coordinating best Agile practices within the organization. A lot of cool stuff on digital transformation initiatives - microservices, AWS cloud services, mobile e-commerce technology, and IP sprints to foster dedicated time for innovation. The company also encourages employee training to promote career progression within the organization. This is by far the most employee-friendly company that I have worked in – Professional, hardworking, top-notch employees. The benefits are awesome – great vacation packages (one of the best), RRSP and DPSP matching contribution, flexible working hours.

    Cons

With any transformation, some pain-point are not unusual e.g difficulty in changing people's mindset and challenges to legacy platforms.

    Vice President & General Manager

Thank you for sharing your experience working at Dealertrack. It is great to hear that you had fun and enjoyed your time with us. Layoffs and changes in management are an unfortunate but necessary aspect of cultivating an agile, successful business in today's evolving automotive industry - we do not take these decisions lightly. Our team members are the backbone of Dealertrack and we appreciate everything they do. Thanks again! Kait Gavin Vice President & General Manager

"Bottomed out morale, poor decision making, no focus"

I worked at Dealertrack full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Laissez-faire work environment Work from home policy Flexibility

    Cons

There's a lot to say. As a whole, the main challenges I found at Dealertrack surrounded a lack of focus on employee happiness and wellness. Decisions were constantly made with no regard for the impact to employees. It was as though some people higher up in management felt they had to do *something* to tick a box for their quarterly goals/planning. Whether it would work or not in execution was ignored. This was especially seen when an organizational change was made two days before quarterly planning. A scrum team forms a certain cohesion, respect, and rapport with its Product Owner, and the idea of changing the way this organization worked is not only ineffective, it also flies in the face of what agile is all about. Adding to the stress put upon the teams by such changes as these are poorly defined requirements and last minute changes from customers that are allowed into sprints, completely destroying any semblance of a sprint goal. Software engineers jump from task to task with no regard for the bigger picture. It's not their fault; they were told to do so. Moreover, promotions and career advancement are based solely along whether you are friends with the higher ups or not. Skills and experience are handwaved in favor of whether the person is good at manipulative communication and tactful in their less-than-honorable goals. Aside from that, there is a serious lack of agility and movement in this organization. Things don't get done, people don't really care unless they're part of the "inner circle", that is, close to management. As much as the organization tries to call itself agile, it isn't. I don't recommend anyone work here unless you are okay with bottomfeeding, career stagnation and watching from below as things melt down.

I worked at Dealertrack full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Dealertrack DMS was a good company before COX Aquire us.But now its just a Micro management hell. Lot of people to manage hand full of employee.

    Cons

Even though you are working in IT industry for decade and deliver value here you will find Manager ,QA Manager, Director, Scrum Master, RTE, Production Architect just to keep unnecessary pressure on 3 dev and 2 QA where as all the reporting is online. But they don't have any thing to do they have to justify high pay by unnecessary meeting. Creating rift between team and they pretend they are resolving it. Basically it's a micro management hell. It worst when people track hour by hour. No carrier growth.
