I worked at Dealertrack full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I started at Dealertrack back in 2014 as a client services rep and worked my way up. I saw a lot of improvement over time in many areas of the business. Training of new hires improved and there is definitely the opportunity to grow if you put in the work and if you are patient.

    Cons

I think that some roles/responsibilities could be more clearly defined.

I have been working at Dealertrack full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Cons

*Job insecurity after continual layoffs * Poor management leads to constant confusion regarding priorities * Terrible managers kill morale of good employees, refuse to provide tools and training to build their teams * Ridiculous treatment of those they do let go

I have been working at Dealertrack full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

If you are not on the technology side, this is a great company to work for. Areas such as Operations, Marketing, etc. are growing and doing some really great things.

    Cons

Ever since the Dealer.com crowd were put in charge of technology, it has been going down hill. They have young leaders in very high positions that do not have the experience and it shows. They are trying to run a now extremely large organization like it was a small start up and the consequences of that attitude are beginning to show.

I have been working at Dealertrack full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Culture within teams are great, team members all pitch in and look out for each other. HR always coming up with great ideas to bring people together

    Cons

IT teams are silo, hard to get anything done, resources are stretched thin, very high paced and demanding internal customers. Business requirements suck!

I have been working at Dealertrack full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Technology company, location, work culture, nice people, great market positioning

    Cons

DT has many parts, formerly independent companies now LOBs within Dealertrack. Each one is different and the work experience differ greatly by location. Some locations ( see Dealer.Com ) are much more like "technical company" where the programmers and the engineers rule. Some locations ( see Headquarters ) run more like a bank where the business would gladly outsource the whole shebang someplace if they could get away with it. Some other locations ( Sacramento ) are not that good at all, toxic culture, a lot of bitter and disappointed people In addition to typical growing pains

I have been working at Dealertrack full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Actively seeks employee feedback and acts on suggestions. This is the only company I have worked for that not only commits the resources to poll the employees, but actually does act on suggestions. We have a unique "Jam" session yearly where we have three days to interactively propose topics and join others' discussions. Some recent policies aimed at employee satisfaction have come from these sessions.

    Cons

Goal setting process is too regimented. Would appreciate having my goals be less reflective on company success, but more tuned to my personal progress which will only help strengthen the organization as a whole.
